when i the school referred me to a psychiatrist i was really nervous too, so i know how you feel. In my personal opinion my psychiatrist is the nicest person i have ever met. The whole meeting with him/her is entirely about you. YOu can tell him whatever is on your mind/heart and they listen. Go in their with a possitive mindset and just tell them whats on your mind. they wont bite i promise :). The only negative thing to going to the psychiatrist is the BILL that comes later but other then that they are really nice people, who care and listen...GOOD luck and i will be looking to hear how it goes!

It depends on who you get, but I love my psychiatrist. I have dealt with mostly nice, understanding people since I've been in treatment. If you aren't comfortable with this psychiatrist, you can request a different one.

Yeah, the first visit is pretty stressful. I also have an anxiety disorder. Honestly, the more you think about it- the more worked up about it you'll get. Try not to think about it all....

Mine ended up calling me and saying how about tomorrow? This was good because there was less time to think about it and potentially back out.

Overall, I'm really glad I went. Getting your butt through the door the first time is the hardest part. They are used to dealing with people that are anxious and I'm certain will do their best to try to make you feel more at ease.

I've been going for 1.5 years now - once every 2 weeks. It's free in Canada though for the seriously messed up.

Anyway, I'd highly recommend it. My shrink is cool- sometimes we take a little break and talk about zombie movies. It calms me down:)

i just the same thing like 3 months ago. they just ask you questions on how you feel and what you have been going through your whole life. they are not scary and you may be worried bc thats what people like us do but you have nothing to be worried about. good luck.
