How are you fighting the winter 'blues'?!

Question: It's the middle of January and we're anxious to spend more time outside, but it's sooo cold! How do you keep occupied in cold weather so you don't get depressed?

I'm retired, so it gets even more difficult to keep myself busy. What I do is inventory, clean, repair if necessary and craft new gear for our warm-weather avocation - reenacting the American Civil War. I portray a Union surgeon and she portrays a Sanitary Commission worker. I also do living history presentations on the topic of Civil War medicine to local schools and civic organizations. I also regularly get on the air with my ham radio station and have a ball with that. And I read a lot. And I spend time working with my fellow veterans down at the Legion hall, the Marine Corps League, the VFW and of course, trying to answer a few good questions on Y!Answers every day. I sure don't know all the answers, but when I do know an answer, I hope I brighten the other person's day.

I stay busy with projects that wouldn't get done if the weather was nicer and I plan a once weekly outing and a once a week dinner and movie at my home with friends. If the weather is mild, I go skating or snowshoeing and remember that winter doesn't last forever.

I HAVE CABIN FEVER!

I'm doing some early spring cleaning I guess...I cleaned the garage earlier, and now I'm moving on to the basement , putting all the christmas decorations away. I guess Its hopeful thinking that when spring finally does come I won't be stuck in the house cleaning....

personal comforts e.g. DVD, coco
outside- go shopping for more winter clothes e.g. matching scarf and hat e.x.

We have just moved and are still putting things away and organizing our home. It's is to bitter cold to do the many projects that will require removing windows or doors so we are trying to do the inside projects now. Next winter will be a different story as we will hopefully be all moved in but then maybe a little ice fishing would be good.
