Help iv suffer from depersonalisation?!
Question: iv got epilepsy and an anxiety disorder, my epilepsy attacks only happen in my sleep, and when i come round from my seziures thats when i get really anxious throughout the day with symptoms of depersonalistion, iv get really stressed out alot and cant sleep well at night cause the depersononalisation really bothers me, i feel like im in a dream world and its very scary at times, plus im a full time single mum to my son who is only 22 months old which is hard enough but he means the world to me. im on alot of medication for my epilepsy and anxiety disorder but im still having these attacks, possibly cause iv had to deal with alot of problems in the past like being abused and it has knocked my confidence down to 0 but mainly my main problem is dealing with these horrible symptons of depersonalisation, how do i cope?

Hi,
I"m so sorry to hear of your struggle. What hell to have to live with. BUT, there's good news. First, depersonalization is an healhty, instinctual response to heavy anxiety or when faced with a trauma event in your life.
It sounds like your anxiety comes from two different directions.
1) Your past trauma
2) The antiicipation of have a seizure during your sleep
On a medical note, we have several excellent anti-epiliepsy medications on the market today. Please love and respect yourself to keep trying until you find a medicine that works for you.
Then, there are two fanstastic options for you seek help and get well from the depersonalization rather quickly.
1) Seek out a therapists who's highly skilled at Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). They can help reduce your symptoms quickly.
2) Seek out a therapist who has certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) This is a "breakthrough treatmet" for trauma recovery that is powerful and fast.
I hope this helps. Please take the steps I've outlined. You deserve it!
All the best,
Dave Turo-Shields
