Let your Mom do this for you. Finding out what you are dealing with is very important, as well as what you are NOT dealing with. Don't let fear hold you back.

Don't worry about what you will say, the counselor and/or psychiatrist will walk you through it. You will likely fill out an assessment form before you go in. It will ask you about certain feelings, behaviors, etc. that you have experienced in the last two weeks or within some time frame. Just answer honestly. Don't try to second-guess anything. You don't have to think too hard, so just let it flow. This form, and the questions you will be asked are just tools to help determine what you are struggling with.

And you can ask anything you want. You can say that you feel embarrassed and that you feel scared. Don't hold back because YOU hold the key. Your Mom, friends, people who love you, the doctor or counselor can help you, but you hold the key. And you are worth it! Feeling good about Life is the way to live, so let this happen so you can get there!

Good luck.

just tell the truth

Go.
Tell the doctor the truth. If it's too hard for you to say it in front of him/her, write it all down in a note before you go and let him/her read it. They won't mind a bit. I get very anxious in front of my doctor and always take a list with me to remind me of what I need to say.
Believe me, no matter what you have to say, he/she has heard it and much worse. Knowing for sure is better than sitting at home feeling like crap and wondering.

*If you are functioning OK without any medication though, I wouldn't rush to get on something.

go... i mean it wont hurt you.
and its better to detact it early. dont worry :D

you shouldn't be scared or embarrassed. Its your choice but if you honestly know that you really want to find out. Go for it there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Wow you shouldn't be embarrassed. Why would you? Millions and Millions of people suffer from bipolar or depressoin.

just go with your gut

dont be sacred or embarrased becuz if u let it get too far than u could hurt urself i would suggest u tell him the truth...he will understand adn tell him that u need to get tested bcuz i and my mom agree that i hav signs to it...
for the talking well...good luck!

I think you should go to the doctor because he/she can help you overcome whatever it is that may be troubling you. Don't be afraid to ask. Your mom knows what's best for you so just listen to her and have her take you. Also your doctor will be able to help you as I just said. So don't be scared to go. In the end, it will be worth it.

It's nothing to be embarassed about. It's an illness like anything else. Your mom knows you and you should listen. Doctors treat lots of people with bipolar and depression. Maybe you will feel better. Just go.

dana, it isn't the end of the world to be bi-polar. Seriously, if you are, you can get meds to help and make things better. who knows, maybe it isn't that bad at all. Knowing is always better.

First thing yes going to the doctor can be scary but believe me doctors have seen alot you probably wont shock them.
Second you could embarrass yourself more in the long run if you don't go get help.

i would let your mom know how you feel and dont worry its natural to be scared at first but it will pass. it is always best to find out ahead of time so more serious problems dont arise later in life.

The most important thing is to not be embarrassed. You are a wonderful and unique being. The worst that can happen is that you waste an hour with a stranger. You're sure to learn that there are treatments that can positively affect your state of mind. My best friend is bi-polar, and while it can take a while to find the right treatment, he is so glad he stuck with the process.

just overcome the fear and go ahead. It's not something that you have to tell anyone else, and as far as the rest of your life goes, it would be good to know for sure now in case there's anything you can do to prevent it from getting worse, or maybe you dont even have either, so you wont have to worry as much.

go to the doctor and tell him the truth. it's better to know it sooner than later. and remember that the people around you are there to help.

If the doctor is any good, she'll have you nailed in a few visits. She'll probably ask you questions about you and ask you about how life is and whatnot.

You could just go to humor your mom. It might even make you feel better just to talk to someone.

Bipolar disorder is a life long illness. It is best to seek treatment earlier than later. It is able to be controlled with meds.Just accept it,everything will work out.Bipolar is very often contributed to depression seek advise from the doc but make sure you know it is something people are born with and have no control over.(nothing to be embarrassed or judged about.good luck)

i had that problem, i had to get diagnosed for depression, it's really uncomfortable, but totally worth it in the long run when you get the help you need, don't be embarassed about it. If you don't think that you can handle talking to the doctor, try writing down all your symptoms and either have them read over it or just go down the list when your talking to them so you don't forget anything, and you'll have some kind of distraction.

Go to the doctor, it
