I really think im OCD? how to cope?!

Question: actually ive gotten MUCH better with my OCD. My parents make fun of me sometimes

my hands are raw and cracked from washign them so much, and using sanatizer

i am really scared of the floor

if something drops on the floor i throw it away(not just food)

i do not allow my mom to touch me and is she does i usually have to shower

I hate when people do the things that i would never do, liek my friend wore a scarf the otherday and it was dragging on the floor, and my dad lays on the floor sometimes

and when someone "dirty" touches something of mine or something i freak out, cry, bang my head with my fists(kinda like a tantrum being angy with myself)

and sometimes i feel like if i dont do something the right way something bad will happen

I have OCD as well and I talked to my mom about it when I started to suspect that I had a problem. You might want to go to therapy and consider something called Cognitive Behavorial Therapy. It can help you develop strategies to help control your OCD and make it easier for you.
Try to consider it and talk to others about it.I've been doing the therapy and it has helped me a lot.Good luck!

I would suggest that you see a doctor if you think you may have OCD.

Good luck!

u just need to chill alittle go and talk to a counselor, they could help with it, and nothing is wrong with sumthing touchiong the floor......itll be okay, trust me....not letting ur mom touch u is kinda harsh dont u think?? just saying...o yea lOVE the ur pic, sweeney todd rox.

Sounds like OCD, there are specialists that can deal and help you understand what you're going through and help control it. I'm not sure where you are but all you have to do is most likely check around and see if there are any doctors in your area that can help you with it. Hang in there, and just remember nothing bad will happen if you don't do them its just a really bad habit.

There's lots of book on coping with OCD. If you don't feel comfortable buying one in a store then you could go to Borders.com or Barnesandnoble.com and have it delievered right to your door. Don't worry lots of ppl have OCD and have the same symptoms as you do.

Are you in therapy or on medication. OCD is very hard to live with, but can be managed with proper care. I knew a girl who had to have her hair laying perfectly still at all times. She was in the mirror 16 hours a day. She finally got help and is living a normal, healthy life. Good luck and God bless.

Yeh, that sounds enough like OCD to see a doctor about it.

I'm pretty sure that I have ocd too.....my family and everybody around me gets annoyed with me and I'm actually losing friends....

It sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder and germ phobia
Howard Hughes was an extreme case of both.

One thing you can try is pick one of the things that bothers you and force yourself to do it. Also try associating things that may have caused you to be like this.

Obsessive compulsive disorder can be difficult to manage without treatment, but it is very treatable. OCD is a type of anxiety disorder in which your actions or rituals, such as hand cleansing, serve to reduce your anxiety about something bad happening.

Counseling, usually cognitive behavioral therapy, can help to manage the compulsions or rituals. A doctor might also prescribe medication to help. OCD can become better or worse depending on life circumstances but it won't go away without treatment. Since OCD can be very disruptive to your life, you should talk to a doctor or a counselor about treatment.
Below is a link with a lot of information about OCD.
