Therapist?!

Question: So I want to go to a psychologist or whatever to ,help me with my mood swings and relationship problems and all the other stuff I need to deal with. How long does it usually take for a clinican to give a diagnosis or actually do something that is worth your while.

I am sorry but I don't want to have to pay, or waste my time sitting in a room for an hour a week for 6 months for nothing to happen

i am going to post a psychological and other medical site that links to all of them on the net. the best and most reliable ones.

you are not alone in relationship issues. the mood swing could be something else.

have you looked at the online symptom finders that can help you decide what you may have? there online psych evauls too.

HOW LONG it takes is more a function of YOU then the psychologist. If you are straight forward, don't play any mind games with the therapist, are open and honest and DO the assignments you may be given you will make progress a lot sooner then going in with your attitude, which is already kind of negative about the process. Go to therapy with a POSITIVE attitude and there are no guarantees.....

it will jsut try it

This will indeed be a waste of time if you are'nt willing to part with some of the behaviors that got you here. Change will not be easy, however; what's going on now does not seem to be working for you either. Take a little direction or you will be wasting your time and the therapists time. The difference will be in who's getting paid for the session. Be ready for some uncomfortable work or the situation you're in will not go away and will probably get worse.

first of all: YOU DO THE WORK not your therapist. and depending on what kind of therapy you are doing, 6 months with little movement (most modalities are like this) is normal. generally it takes YEARS to undo most psychological conditions .... UNLESS you work with someone like ME. what am i? (and this is NOT an attempt to sell my services) i am a well trained psychotherapist that uses PRIMARILY hypnotherapy in my practice. by 6-7 months of mostly weekly sessions EVERY client that has gone that long and followed my suggestions has had major major major changes for the good and better in their lives. is it easy? NO, do they have to do work in my office AND at home: YES.

so there is some info about therapy. there are TONS of well meaning therapists. most cant help themselves out of a paper bag...

This is just my personal opinion. But I would highly recommend a psychiatrist instead. Email if you need to talk. I had better luck with a psychiatrist.

hmm. i went to a therapist for a long time as a kid. i wasnt crazy, my parents were divorced and crazy. if you go, seeking a diagnosis - for you emotions or moodswings, then tell them strait out. it is expensive, and they want your money. find someone you really like. and are comfortable with. the last lady i saw, on the 3rd session, still couldnt remember my name! i was so mad. i didnt see her again. if its relationship issues - they will mostly listen and want you to talk. and theyll ask you questions about what you should do, and what you want to do, etc. no therapist is going to make your life easier though, it helps you get through the hard parts and talk it out.

will instead of goin to therape why don't you talk to ur friends about it cause it the same but ur friends r free

I remember your question about BPD, and thanks for that question. I didn't know that i have the same problem. I'm not see in anyone about it. The only thing I'm doing is letting God to transform me in to a new person, buy praying and reading the bible.
