What will they think?!

Question: ok before xmas i saw a psychiatrist. i was very stressed out about school work as i have exams and i worry to the extreme about getting good results, so she told me to write up a timetable where i have slots of work and slots of break, as i often don't go out because i panic about work. this way i would ensure i get a break. and she told me to rate my mood after each slot. i kinda did what she said, i worked in slots, but i didn't write up the timetable as i was ill over the holiday so wasn't sure if i would work at all. plus writing it up would have made me feel guilty when i didn't follow it (i'm really bad at sticking to timetables) and i didn't rate my moods at all. the problem is, she wanted me to bring my timetable to the next session, with all the mood ratings on it. what will she think? what do i do? in some ways i want help but in other ways i don't, and i did structure my work, i just didn't write it down. will she not bother to help me coz i'm not doing what she says?

Im glad to hear that you are getting help :)
I understand where your coming from about not doing what she asked. however i used to worry myself sick when i hadnt done exactly what they had asked of my but then i was told that when they set you things to do its not a chore its a task and if you decide to do the task then thats entirely up to you...its not about having to do anything...you do what you want and when you want...
I was once told to write a timetable for my revision however it worked out it made me more stressed in the long run having to look at all the work i had to do and then i would literally beat myself up when i didnt stick to it so they arent always right in what they tell you to do...everyone is different and what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you...only you know what you can do so i wouldnt worry...
It wont affect her wanting to help you because fact is if you didnt want the help you wouldnt have seen her in the beginning and she'll be able to recognise that!
Explain to her that you weren't well and that you didnt write up your moods etc but tell her about how you still stuck to working in slots...if thats what worked for you then thumbs up hun for finding something to get you through it!
Take care and keep going!!
All the best xoxox

Be honest, ohterwise it'll just take her longer and cost you more money to figure it out anyway. Tell her you feel like you're cheating when you don't work, even though you are allowed to have a break. Tell her you haven't tried it as you should have done, but if it still doesn't work she'll have to help you in a different way. Remember they are qualified to find ways that work for each individual, so don;t feel bad at all. They should adapt to YOU and what works for YOU!!

well try to tell her the way you feel as i think your doing great keep up the good work she will want to know how you did and you can find thanks as you did try to do all she ask ... good on you and good luck i think you will win in the end ...

You dont need good GCSE's to earn alot of money and have a good life, chill out a bit.
The psychiatrist won't bother helping you if your not helping yourself.
You could just fudge the results.

First of all let me assure you that your not the first and only person not to fill in sheets given to you by a psychologist, or psychiatrist. I would have thought it would be more a psychologist thing to do, because they love to hand out sheets.

Psychiatrists are more medical... psycologists are behavoural.

Anyway...

They sheets are only a gague as to how you feel.
Don't feel bad about not doing it at first. She will want to discuss why you have not done it and that will all come out in your next session.

There are reasons on a subconcious level that you didn't do them, this is why your seeing her to help you to understand why you have adopted these behaviours and if she is any good, she will give you the tools to either come to terms with them or to change your patterns to be calmer and more able to deal with the stresses imposed upon you.

You will be fine... she is there to help, not hinder and she is certainly not there in any way shape or form to pass judgement on you...

Be calm and enjoy your sessions, get the most from them, it will only help you to live a happier life.

GOODLUCK

.

Hi, firstly you have got to try and stop worrying as much because at the end of the day you can only do your best and no one is going to be cross with you for doing that. If you don't get the results you wanted there is no point beating yourself up about it because there is nothing you can do but accept it. I am sure your psychiatrist will understand that it is hard for you and they won't be cross. You need to explain how you are feeling to your psychiatrist so she can help you and do as much as he/she can for you. I used to worry and still do now about exams like you especially maths ones! So you aren't alone. I think everyone worries to some extent. I think this is because it's your future and it is going to affect the whole of your life. Lastly, try not to feel as pressurized by exams and do this by getting your psychiatrist to think of some techniques to keep you calmer and less stressed. Good luck with everything and I hope I've helped.

You are worrie dwhat your psychiatrist will think? Isn't that kinda the point of you seeing her? Be honest. If she gives you an assignment, do it and you can say you did your best. If you don't try then you are just giving yourself a way out of fixing your own problems. She is trying to help you. Accept the help by doing your part.
She won't be judgmental. you'd be surprised at how many people don't follow through with things like that, but probably not surprised at how many of those people never get better.
It's your life.

Its okay leave that but dont try to hide that go her and tell abour ur thinking frankly to her surely she will kindly give good response see my website

take a copy of this question with you.

tell her how you feel, explain the situation. Maybe give it a go this time round. Guilt won't change it.

This worrying sounds to me like the onset of bipolar disorder or possibly a version of ocd. She will want to help you (and its her job anyway so she will). But whatever, I'm just a teenager so I'm probably wrong about the bipolar thing. Sorry.
