I know- I am the same!! I think the checking things is more about being neurotic! I think that everyone to an extent has some OCD. Try not to worry about it too much and try to trust yourself a little more. If you indulge too much in these little traits- they will get bigger and become more of an issue. if you do feel like you are getting worse then it may be a good idea to see someone but remember that you are not alone and at least you have recognised it.

Also, you do not want to cultivate this into your 'personality'. There is nothing wrong with you, relax, breathe and help yourself.

PS. At least you are hygienic!

everyone has ocd's but some people are able to control them more than others have a chat with your gp

Talk to your doc. My family think i have an OCD too, they call me the neat freak!! I just can't stand things to be dirty or out of place!! Good luck!

OCD can happen to anyone. Like me for instance, I use to check and re-check that my sunglasses and keys and wallet were in my briefcase. I did it every day on the bus on the way to work, I mean every day. I wash my hands at least twice every time with soap. I check and re-check doors are locked before we go out, and whilst we are at home, I make sure the security doors are always locked. So I guess I have a little OCD and you too. I would just mention what you have mentioned here to a doctor and see what he thinks, maybe some counselling would be good for you, but I'm not sure they give medication to people with OCD, OCD is a behavourial condition. So yeah, just go check out your doctor and see what he says from there. Good Luck.

Most people have obsessive habits. It sounds like you need to have a chat with your dr. I have had OCD since I was young & have been able to start dealing with it by taking Ciprimal which reduces anxiety & slowly taking down the amount I check & wash my hands. Have a look at the self help books in waterstones. You are not mad your'e not on your own either.
If you need to chat let me know cub1627@yahoo.co.uk.

yes you have it, no there isnt treatment, get used to it like the rest of us lol

My niece has ocd. Go to the doc`s before it gets worse and talks over your life! there is therapy for it! good luck!

there are medicines that u can try but mostly it is in your head. u just have to learn to stop and try your best to minimize this or just walk away from what u are doing, i used to have this disorder but i got over it and i am now free of this tormenting disorder.

Not everyone has OCD's. Usually the people that do have them have some form of 'trigger'. This may be stress related. A good starting point would be for you to see your GP and explain how you are feeling. Treatment wise you really have to take the first step yourself. It depends on how severe you feel this situation is and how much its affecting you.

EVERYTHING has to be parallel. Or I freak out.

As you can see, it is very common... you just have to stop yourself from becoming obsessed!

I am not a psychiatrist but i am a psychiatric nurse and yes you certainly appear to be experiencing symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder/depression.
I recommend you book a visit to see your g.p asap who will be able to correctly diagnose and recommend a course of appropriate treatment for you which may involve some counselling and antidepressants.
