Out of control again.?!

Question: So last night I got drunk blacked out and punched my friend in the head and was generally offensive to everyone around me. I am taking lexapro for depression which definitely makes me even wilder than usual. I passed out sitting and woke up in the same position. This sh$t is out of hand and I have been doing it for way too long now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can stop drinking for even a month so I can get back on track. Its to the point where I am having full on anxiety attacks about what I did the night before once people tell me but I still keep doing in every weekend. I think I would get something out of AA but I do not agree with the whole powerless against my drinking bit quite yet...give me a few years. So any alternative approaches or experiences you care to share would be great.

Unless you purposely get in those situations to black out and hit people, sounds like you are getting pretty powerless to alcohol. You even said you are "out of control".

I wanted to point out to you that lexapro is not compatible with alcohol. You can get alcohol poisoning much quicker while taking lexapro than if you weren't. The alcohol will also interfere with how the lexapro is absorbed into your system.

I say give AA a shot. It can't hurt to try it out. You may not agree with every little thing they say. Also you can ask your doctor about an injection called Vivitrol. You are given it monthly and it prevents you from getting any physical pleasure from drinking. It works really well in getting people off of alcohol.

I also recommend you see a therapist to work on your anxiety and other issues. This will help you alot in working through all of this.
