Does she need mental help?!

Question: my sister started skipping school a few months ago and its only getting worse.
she refuses to get up evry morning and will sit in silence all day... my mum and her argue constantly because mum's been getting court warnings, and she could get fined.
at first i thought she was just being selfish and stubborn because she wouldn't give us a reason of why she won't go.
now i think its a bit more serious... i found a question she had asked on here, saying shes so depressed about school, she was asking for tips on how to get kicked out, saying she could get pregnant or shave her head... she's 13 for god sake!!
all i want is for her to do well, if she is mentally ill then i dont know how to help...
she used to be such a happy bubbly girl and all of a sudden shes miserable, wont get up for school, arguing with everyone and staying in the house for so long it makes her ill...
shes lost so much weight recently, and im scared the depression will go deeper, please help her...

Your sis is your younger sis? Might you show an interest in her? Take her with you..invite her to simply go somewhere that you know you'll both laugh..and then..then try talking to her..let her know how important it is that she be herself and not follow in your footsteps, nor meet any expectations you've already met..do you see where I'm going with this...? (Been through this with my daughters recently) Try to get her to share her interests and make the attempt to get involved..making her feel important!!
Now, what is going on at school? That sounds bad...the intense desire to remove herself from that aspect of life...Can you go to lunch at her school..just show up and have lunch with her.a surprise? WATCH what is going on..is she alone..with undesirables..in over her head...??? Try to watch...and maybe ask around after she goes to class!! Put her on an Athletic vitamin daily pack..maybe an herbal remedy for depression such as St. Johns Wort, or better yet, SAMe..ask her to also drink a glass of water (8oz.) with 4 tablespoons of Apple Cider added daily!! You might be surprised! Putting her on antidepressants is so dangerous, especially at her age!!
My best to you..and your lil sis .. May you reach her...Hugs~Hope~Health & Happiness to you all...

she may need therapy. it sounds like something really bad happened to her at school.

I am sorry. She does probably need somebody professionally to talk to. The hard thing is the age, at that age it is really hard to convince teenagers that they need to get help. Talk to your parents and see if they can take her somewhere. Legally, since she is under 18 they can take her to therapy (I guess you can say against her will if need be). Good luck. Talk to your parents.

She may need someone to talk to like a therapist. Maybe she doesn't have any friends or anyone she feels like she can talk to. That may be why she posted on yahoo answers. It might be embarrassing for for to talk to family who she feels might not understand. She might not want to hear all the good things about herself. I know when I was younger I felt that it was my family and they had to say it. I also lost a lot of weight when I was stressed out and hated going to school. She may just be anxious and a little depressed.

Does she go out with friends ? If not, why not ?

Does she take drugs with older people maby ?

Losing waight sounds seriouse, has she ever been fat, and school kids taking the mick ?

You offer her to hang with you for a while, this could help a lot.

Sounds like a severe depressive episode to me. Im not a physician though so I cant diagnose her. She definately could benefit from help. Your mom is in charge of that though. Your sister is not 18, and leaves your mom the one who is to make the decisions regarding her health. She can have your sister forcefully treated. So it would probably be in your sisters benefit to try to comply and see if there is anything that can be done to help.
