Do statcare or urgent care centers prescribe anxiety meds?!

Question: my prescription for ativan is up tomorrow and im needing to get it refilled but dont have a regular doctor yet as i recently moved back into town from out of state. can i go to an urgent care place and would they most likely refill my script if i bring my old bottle in as proof of a script or will they just refer me to a mental health dr.? i just cant afford to waste money going to a dr if they wont refilll my script. has anyone gotten anxiety meds before from one of these places? it is ativan not sure if that helps. i just dont want to go through withdrawls...

I'm not sure-they might be able to give you a supply for a day to a few days, enough time hopefulllly for you to get a regular dr.
Take care.

You need to try to get a regular physician. You should try to contact your previous doctor - pharmcies won't fill the script if it isn't an original, but they may be able to contact an urgent care that you go to.Urgent care is the best place to go. An E.R. isn't really all that great to go to, as they are for true health emergencies. Urgent care, by the way, is more expensive that physicians (traditionally). Just be truthful with the person who sees you and explain the situation. Have your previous MD infor ready for them in case they want to contact them for verification. I have been in health care for years, and docs get ticked if you go in faking a condition for a controlled substance. When a patient tells the truth, they are willing to help out. Good luck.

You shouldn't have been put on this for 2 years. It is meant to be a short term use drug. I doubt any ER will prescribe it, as many people abuse this drug. I think you should get to your pcp doctor as soon as possible, but schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist in the near future for proper medication management. PCPs aren't too good at managing psych medications.
