Does your job make you feel useful and accepted?!

Question: Most of us would dislike our job in some way. Me too. However my seems to have a therapy effect on me too. For some reason I find myself acting more positive at work. Even encouraging myself and my colleagues to work hard. When I am alone at home, I tend to get more negative, even cried at times feeling lonely. So does this mean work fills up the void? What if one day I have to retire? What would u do if u are in my situation?

I think I know what you mean. At home, I feel more negative because I tend to focus on my problems. I usually am more positive at work, trying to be my best around other people. It depends on what is going on in my life, but yes, sometimes I feel better just having something to do and focus on when I'm at work. It helps to take my mind off my worries.

When you retire, you can always keep a job part-time or do volunteer work. You said you feel lonely at times, but do you have any pets? They are great companions, so if you think you can adopt one, try your local animal shelter. I have a dog and 2 cats, and they are so sweet and loving. Also, maybe you would like to try a new hobby, such as painting, dancing or learning to play a musical instrument? Maybe you can take a class in your spare time and meet some new friends, too. I always feel happy when I take the time to paint and go on nature walks.

Take care!

I actually like my job. I just don't like the people I work for very much. So I deal with it as best I can. Life can be difficult. So I practice being as kind as I can at the moment.

the job I have at the moment makes me feel useful but not accepted lol but I feel like that alot when I am not at work too, I thought it was because I didnt have anything to work towards or think about. so yes, in a way it fills a void for me.

you dont have to retire at all, you can keep working until you want to retire and I have met many people who have retired and gotten another job because they were bored all the time. retirement is an option.

hope this helps.

Why must work fill up the void? Why not family? Are you actually planning to retire alone? If you are so afraid of being alone, it's time to find yourself a soulmate. Or if you are already married, you should start your own family. By the time you retired, you'll have your wife/husband, children or maybe grandchildren to help you occupy your time. Go travel or do something fun. It's about time you relax and enjoy your old age instead of working your whole life.
