As you say, the reason you are light headed and experiencing dizzyness is because your body is not recieving the right ammount of food it needs to function properly. Also, since you are not getting nutrients, you are going to find it difficult to concentrate properly on anything, such as reading and even understanding things as you should. Not eating enough and taking laxitives is not just an issue with weight, as you say, it's about control.
Now, as you can see, you are in a very bad cycle. You are not emotionally stable, you are not recieving enough food to help your body function and you are also doing your body harm by starving it and taking laxitives. Therefore, if you are committed to making yourself get well you need to realise that if you continue on this path you are setting yourself up for failure by hurting yourself like this.
By needing so much control, you are obviously lacking control in other areas of your life. And now you are taking it out on your body. That doesn't seem fair, does it? You wouldn't kick someone while they're down would you? Thats what you are doing to yourself.
Firstly, it's good that you are going to a therapist. However, you need to start taking responsibilty for your own health so that therapy is useful to you. You need to be in the best shape possible so you can start the healing process. Firstly, you must go and have a check up at your doctor. Discuss your dizzyness and use of laxitives. Your doctor will be able to provide you with vitamin supplements and also be able to tell you the dangers of long term use of laxitives. I'll tell you, it's not pretty, your digestive system starts to rely on them to work and it could mean that you have to take them for life.
You have a distorted relationship with food at the moment, this you will be able to discuss with your therapist and come to the real reason why you feel you need so much control. You don't have to feel judged, because you are reaching out for help means that you have enough sense to realise that you need to change your situation.
I suffered from the same problems you are experiencing and the most important thing you have to realise is that you must have someone to talk to that you can trust, because the more support you have the easier things get. Take small, manageable steps each day, and with each goal reached you will get more confidence in yourself. Learn to respect your body, realise how much it works for you each day, that you right now you are punishing it and that only contributes to you feeling worse, weaker and unable to cope.
Don't focus on how bad things can get if you continue this, only focus on how much better things will be if you take positive steps each day. Don't get to rock bottom before you start looking after yourself, it's a much harder path to climb from down there.
Remember, you say what you are doing is "control", well, starving yourself is what I describe as out of control. If you want to control anything, its the self respect you should have for yourself. I hope that this helps, and remember, the more you start to take proper care of yourself, the easier it becomes to sort out the problems that may have caused this in the first place.
