As you say, the reason you are light headed and experiencing dizzyness is because your body is not recieving the right ammount of food it needs to function properly. Also, since you are not getting nutrients, you are going to find it difficult to concentrate properly on anything, such as reading and even understanding things as you should. Not eating enough and taking laxitives is not just an issue with weight, as you say, it's about control.

Now, as you can see, you are in a very bad cycle. You are not emotionally stable, you are not recieving enough food to help your body function and you are also doing your body harm by starving it and taking laxitives. Therefore, if you are committed to making yourself get well you need to realise that if you continue on this path you are setting yourself up for failure by hurting yourself like this.

By needing so much control, you are obviously lacking control in other areas of your life. And now you are taking it out on your body. That doesn't seem fair, does it? You wouldn't kick someone while they're down would you? Thats what you are doing to yourself.

Firstly, it's good that you are going to a therapist. However, you need to start taking responsibilty for your own health so that therapy is useful to you. You need to be in the best shape possible so you can start the healing process. Firstly, you must go and have a check up at your doctor. Discuss your dizzyness and use of laxitives. Your doctor will be able to provide you with vitamin supplements and also be able to tell you the dangers of long term use of laxitives. I'll tell you, it's not pretty, your digestive system starts to rely on them to work and it could mean that you have to take them for life.

You have a distorted relationship with food at the moment, this you will be able to discuss with your therapist and come to the real reason why you feel you need so much control. You don't have to feel judged, because you are reaching out for help means that you have enough sense to realise that you need to change your situation.

I suffered from the same problems you are experiencing and the most important thing you have to realise is that you must have someone to talk to that you can trust, because the more support you have the easier things get. Take small, manageable steps each day, and with each goal reached you will get more confidence in yourself. Learn to respect your body, realise how much it works for you each day, that you right now you are punishing it and that only contributes to you feeling worse, weaker and unable to cope.

Don't focus on how bad things can get if you continue this, only focus on how much better things will be if you take positive steps each day. Don't get to rock bottom before you start looking after yourself, it's a much harder path to climb from down there.

Remember, you say what you are doing is "control", well, starving yourself is what I describe as out of control. If you want to control anything, its the self respect you should have for yourself. I hope that this helps, and remember, the more you start to take proper care of yourself, the easier it becomes to sort out the problems that may have caused this in the first place.

Great! Report It

  • That could be a very serious biological medical problem. I would make an appointment with the doctor as soon as possible.

Please talk to your doctor about this. This is a serious problem and not eating, depleting your body of necessary nourishement can lead to serious health issues.

The dizzy spells and hallucinations is already a sign that your body is crying out for help.

Take control of your health and eat something good for you and keep it down. Good luck to you and God bless.

Please call your therapist and see if you can move your appointment up. Try not to be scared. Look up Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Good luck and remember to tell your therapist everything that you have told us here.

I do think you need to eat more. Dizziness can be caused by lack of food as you pointed out.

Eat and be happy. If you don't you will die.

I got very sick a while ago and couldnt eat and ended up in the ICU, it is not worth it.

If you think it is a control thing, try to shift your focus onto something else. Over time you may get better and better.

If you cannot eat alot, just start out slowly and eat more and more each day.

It sounds, like you may have an eating disorder of some kind. I went through the same problems about ten years ago around the time I graduated from high school.

I was scared to grow up. I felt like I had no control of anything in my life. Everyone around me felt like they knew me inside out but had no idea at all of who I really was. I felt so lonely.

Food was the only thing I could find which I could control.

I would suggest you try and find someone you trust to talk to about these things.

You need to nourish your body, and your brain, and if you dont, you can begin to start seeing things, getting dizzy and some of the things you spoke of. Maybe this is something to talk to your doctor about, but find someone you trust.

Dont suffer for years like I did. Take care of yourself. You are worth it.

You didn't provide a whole lot of info...I wish you would be more specific cause I'd like to help you.
It sounds like you are primarily suffering from depression. Is there a food issue in your household where someone is obese, too skinny or is food judged alot? It may have become an issue when it shouldn't have.
Take care of yourself. Find ANYONE who you trust and confide in them, allow someone to help you because you are worth it!

Confusion is not good. It is starting to affect your brain. You could die from this. Be scared as hell and get help. I hope you make it.

    Hello,
Who am I to judge you or anyone else, heck I have problems too :0)
Have you ever thought to hang out at a cafe or somewhere where they serve food? This way you might eat something if that is you are all by yourself? You will meet people to hang with etc..
Good luck with this!! and keep seeing your therapist.

It sounds like you are suffering from some kind of disorder, possibility an anxiety condition as well.
You don't have to necessarily believe you are fat to have an eating disorder.
It may be that your self confidence is extremely low and your limited food intake could be a form of punishment that you are subconsciously putting on yourself.
I think you are on the right track by seeing a therapist.
You need to feel confident with your therapist and get to the bottom of the problem.

However the only real immediate thing you need to do to get better is eat.
Maybe you have a bad relationship with food and you see it as being something bad?
All the signs you are experiencing are simply your bodies way of telling you that it needs something.
I suffer from OCD and as part of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy I learned how to control my thinking and also recognise my bodys way of communicating to me.
This is something you could maybe talk to your therapist about trying.

But please, as hard as it may be to you, you need to eat.
Even if you begin by eating small meals and build your way up.
Some people make food their friend and comfort eat.
You seem to be doing the opposite.
You have made food your enemy. - it doesn't have to be this way.
You need to take control and listen to your body.
Your therapist can help you with your emotional problems.
Only you have the power to make your body better.

I really hope that you can take this onboard.
You sound like a really nice person, but you are fearful of negativity.
The world is not out to hurt you - you are out to hurt yourself.

Take good care of yourself and have a good healthy meal.

    Good luck :)

You are putting your intestines through a lot.Let me say you will have serious health problems if you do not get help .

From your description you are anorexic. Get help immediately. Untreated, this will kill you. Go see a doctor NOW.

Oh dear, did you realize you are going to die if you don't find a way to get this under control.? Please seek medical help. I know there is someone out there that can help you. The human body can not live with food and the vitamins and nutrients that are in them. You can go for years, but sooner or later you organs will slowly begin to shut down. Did you now you would have a massive heart attack from lack of food? Did you know that you brain has to be fed just like your body? You will find it even difficult to think or focus without food being put in your body. Please, get help for this ,cause if you don't, you will die a slow death!
