What do i do while I wait?!

Question: Im waiting to see a psychiatrist, in fact i was supposed to have an emergency appointment due an issue that arose before christmas. I even phoned after to ask if they have arranged this but they have not returned to me.

All my life i've been hyper, had lack of concentration, sleep and behavioral issues. Now im just tired off life and myself, have had suicidal feelings and attempts (without people knowing most of the time - and no daft comments about this, im seeking help as i've just said and yes i was/am serious i just did it all wrong). I have paranioa and delusional problems, i have irrational jealousy and fears and i get anger fits, Im failing university and i just feel like an utter asshole. How long must i wait? It seems the medical service does not believe me. I think its because i appear normal and calm on the outside most of the time, inside im not.

Im in the UK, Im 27 and have seeked help before, but this never goes away. Others tried to help me and i tried to help myself.

When you are feeling turmoil on the inside, try deep breathing for relaxation/meditation/stress relief. Talk to friends. Keep a journal. Let out your feelings and/or find a support group.

If you are using any illegal drugs or using prescription drugs in a way that wasn't authorized by a Doctor, then stop. If you are drinking heavily, stop. I would consider not drinking at all. If you have problems with this try going to AA.

Medication can really help a lot if you find the right one. It sounds to me like you have something serious that is biologically based.

About suicide - people who use the dorky phrase "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" just don't understand.

A better phrase to keep from acting on thoughts right away is "I can always commit suicide later".

Also, suicide really hurts the people around you. Think of your parents, family, friends. I know people who are still in guilt and loss more than 10 years later.

when you see them tell the that people dont see it because you are sorta wearing a mask to hide yourself.

Go see a consoler, and be patient because it your life and you want to live it to the fullest.

Since you are waiting find someone to talk to anyone, a friend, family, or just someone who will listen.

You have started to help yourself by putting your case on here ,,,demand to see a Specialist,,,,its your rights,,,,Good Luck,,,,,,,

Call again and tell them you are having suicidal thoughts and need an appointment NOW.

If you don't hear from them shortly after that, contact someone else. Contact the mental health department to assist you in finding someone if you need help.

Your university should have counselors available to help you, perhaps you can get some quick help there, try and see. Insist that you need help NOW, make yourself heard to get the help you need, even if you have to yell!

Try to begin to control your own thoughts, think more positively. You are not an "asshole" you are a good person trying to survive in this world and doing the best you can right now. When you feel negative thoughts creep in, change them quickly to something good. That is a start.

Take care.
