How do I get out of my routine?!

Question: I have a 8-5 job, go to the gym, either go home or run errands, watch a movie, go to bed, rinse and repeat...I used to hang out with friends before they all got significant others and have no time to hang out anymore. Obviously, I would love to be with someone, but i also understand that it doesn't happen for everyone at the same time. So, what do you suggest I do to get out of my rut? I just am so bored right now with life and tryin to get out there, but I'm still really bored....

Try to find a new friend to run with. It gets tough with the weekly grind, but try to find at least one activity to do during the week that is out of the norm... going out for drinks/local music scene, out to Borders to peruse, etc....

Also, think about either working toward a degree (bachelors or masters) thru evening classes, or even just take some classes you are interested in at the local community college (i.e. writing, programing, art, Spanish). That is a great way to meet some new friends and expand your social circle.

Well, skipping work really isn't much of an option. After the gym shower and go to a bar or club or go somewhere social where you can meet people. It will be difficult at first, but it will be so worth it. On weekends take a walk on the street or in the park. You can invite some of your co-workers to dinner or out for drinks (but depending on what your boss is like, steer clear of him/her). If you have the time and/or energy pick up a weekend volunteer job or volunteer after work.

I understand what you are saying. Same stuff day after day. I got a personal ad on the internet and started dating a little, took a clay class so I have something to do on Mon evenings and can go on Fri night also. I am meeting some new people that way and make new friends. I also joined the Red Hat Society and go out with them twice a month. I feel like those things have made my life ... not as boring. So, take a class, find a group to join, do volunteer work, etc.
