When anxiety strikes what do u do or tell urself to continue on ...?!

Question: Distraction is the key effort of anxiety. Stay focus and don't panic. Easier said than done. Many have different techniques. Some work and some don't. Like some stated you can count, breath and indulge. Seriously, you can do all three. You can indulge into a magazine if you're standing in the checkout lane to distract your mind. Anxiety is a mind game. If you allow it to win it will win. It can cause you chronic anxiety like mine. I have anxiety and I learn to live with it like if it's my child. I tell it to behave when I enter a crowded store or have to get lectured by my peers. Ok, I'm 46 and many don't realize that anxiety affects any age. It's how your mind deals with it is how you can control anxiety. You can get anxiety for no apparent reason. You can get anxiety if you suddenly have a crush on a person. You see that person walking your way and you want so badly to talk to that person but the anxiety kicks in. Of course, you must learn to breath. It's true. Breathing 3 deep breath brings oxygen back into your brain and cause the chemical inside to reduce the anxiety and go back to its origional spot. Having anxiety is like blowing up a balloon. You fill your brain will all these worries and no place to put all of them so it has to burst so here comes the anxiety. Yes, counting will cause the chemicals to go back to its origional spots once again as described above. When you count it distracts the brain sensors. The chemical don't erupt. The chemical imbalance is like mixing water and oil. They don't mix well. Your anxiety can be reduced. Once you get it you get it for life. This is why they say to do these techniques to eliminate them all together. The sooner the better you catch an anxiety attack the sooner you'll learn to handle them. I have had mine for nearly 33 years due to the fact I was abused by my parents and Ex-hubby, having a 23 yr old son and peers during school who teased me alot. Anxiety is brought on by sudden truama like abuse, broken hearts, taking a test or illness like finding out your have cancer or a rare disease. Anxiety can be treated with medications but some cases it doesn't work the medications. I have proof cause my 43 yr old sister and 82 yr old Aunt continues with meds and they're still have bad anxiety. My anxiety is not as extreme as theirs and I don't take meds. Just remeber to breath, indulge, pray and laugh. Laughing conquers Anxiety.

Indulge until pass

i try to remember to breath through it. then i talk to my husband...he is the best at getting me straightened out :)

I'd keep on goin until i complete my goal so just be proud of urself

There is a breathing technique. You take in a deep breath for 5 seconds. Hold it for 5 seconds. Then exhale for 5 seconds. Do this for five minutes and it will get rid of the anxiety.

of course continue on what other options are there?

Sometimes you have to push yourself to do whatever it is you need to do. Take a deep breath and focus on calming yourself down. Try positive self talk. Have you tried doing Yoga exercises to clear your mind? Have a plan of action you can fall back on. Take your mind off whatever triggered the anxiety. Think about things that make you feel calm. Acknowledge your fear, but use everything you can to keep it from overpowering you. Anxiety can cripple your quality of life, and that's probably what you don't want. There are meds for anxiety disorder. Maybe something on this site will be useful: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/anxiety_...

I try to look at what it is I am trying to do and break it down into steps. Then take one step at a time. Focus on your breathing and place your hand on your chest and feel it going up and down as you take air in and out.

There are things at the moment that I can't do because of my anxiety and I am having to accept that with a view to being able to do them when I am feeling better.

:-)))

I try to tell myself that it's just a feeling and that it will go away and then I try to focus on something else. Deep breathing like described above will also help alot. It's something to focus on as well as relaxing.

i pop a valium and breath, saying this is normal

Take one step back, then a deep breath and start forward again. Keep breathing and keep moving.
