My 8 year old sister attempted suicide?!
Question: We were playing truth or dare and I gave her a choice of:
*putting her gerbil on her bare belly
OR
*touching my killer parakeet.
Well, next thing I know she runs upstairs saying she was gonna kill herself. She got a knife and was sharpening it. I was leaving because I thought she was trying to get attention. Then she holds it to her throat and my mom walked in. My mom said, "What are you doing?" My sister replied, "I am going to kill myself." Well, my mom held her for awhile. But no action is being taken. Thats it. hug and everythings good. I personally thing she needs help. She gets mad and punches my dog because the dog comes to me not her. I HATE her. Shes a FREAK!!!!

Try to have an honest discussion with your parents or other trusted adult about your sisters behavior. If your parents are reluctant to do anything then I would go to my school counselor and confide in him/her. Your counselor should have some ideas on what to do next Suicide threats should always be taken seriously and you're doing the right thing by telling an adult. Good luck.

She needs major help. Your mom might be in denial. Tell you mom that she needs to get help. She sounds like a psycho by hitting the dog.. no offense.
You never want to hesitate when it comes to suicide possibilities. Always get help or youll regret that you were wrong and ignored it.

She probably interpreted "touching my killer parakeet" as killing herself somehow.
Diagnose her with ADD pills even if she doesnt have it. That will slow her down a bit
Talk to your mum dad or anybody thats older and can help...she needs help and soon...

i don't think you really hate your sister do you?
i don't think it is anything major to worry about, like you say, she is probably attention seeking. a bit of sibling rivalry, she is jealous when you the attention.
however if there are any repeat episodes or her behaviour becomes dangerous to herself or others, then certainly i would take her to see a doctor in case there are any major pscychological problems
don't hate her...after all, she is your sister. yes, take her to get help and make sure she's okay and hopefully just faking it. just be there for her. who knows what she really is going through.
I just think she's just trying to get an attention, so there's a problem with her to get an attention this way. You should get help and see some Dr.
Im gonna be straight up with you. From what I read, your sister shows signs of a homicidal or suicidal person. The harming of an animal is a straight away sign. There are many signs you should look for, and you need to not be rude to her or hurt her feelings lol... thats a very BAD idea... You should tell your mom about her hitting the dog that way, and just be honest with how you really feel. Maybe your mom will have a talk with her.

Well, stop hating her and thinking she's a freak. She obviously looks up to you and really wants your love and attention. She is jealous of you also. So she needs love from you, and kindness as well as friendship. Be a big sister!!! Sit her down and tell her that you love her and that killing herself is not the right thing to do, that life is a gift. She is 8, she doesn't comprehend what killing herself really means. she doesn't understand the finality of death. She was doing this for attention and cause she was hurt and wanted you to know she was hurt. She may need help from a counselor, for what ever is bugging her so deeply. She isn't a freak at all. She is 8 and jealous of her older sister and desperatly wants your love and attention. Hence getting so mad at the dog. She feels inferior to you. Hold your sister and call the dog over and pet the dog together. You are the older one here, take innitiative and help your sister through her hard time. She isn't mentally as developed at you are she is only 8. This isn't her, this is the people around her egnoring signs of possible depression and clearly not monitoring what this child watches on tv. Your sister needs love, patience and understanding. She is still a child!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT A FREAK!!!! Shameon you for saying that about your family member. Way to care and protect what is yours hun.
She is acting out like this for a reason. Getting her help might get to the bottom of her aggression. Remeber, children don't know how to communicate emotional issues. You have no idea, something bad could have happened to her or be happening to her. Possibly a devorce, changes in family, touched wrong, you never know, but this child needs to get some help and in the mean time you need to stop being hateful and hating your sister.

Are you 4 real? If so I truly empathize 4u&urs. Don't turn a blind eye. Sounds like this child is COL, some one needs to brk the cycle b4 its too late. This is clearly a sign of a deeper issue. Seek proffessional help. Psychopathic displays are usually seen early on. If you know what to look 4. Dont ignore what you see. ATTENTION= this is key
Well you can't help her youself she has a problem and if all the sudden she randomly leaves a game of truth or dare to go kill herself she might be bipolor and that is a real problem she needs help a theripist would help but for right now get a hold of a real doctor and tell them what happened so they can help the girl out! Jeez I feel bad for the dog try to keep the dog away from her! Wish you the best!
