Does taking prozac make you do the things you always wanted to do b4 but couldn&!

Question: I have been taking prozac for a little over 1 year and I have since had breast implants , considered leaving my husband, and other things that I otherwise would NEVER have done. I don't know if its the meds that have given me the courage to go 4 the things I want or if I am just at an age when I stopped caring what the world would think and do want I want. I see the down side to where I feel like I put up with more b.s and let it roll cuz its so much easier than getting myself worked up over things especially the marriage thing it is just easier to get along than to have to deal with the issues and or the divorce. Is this common or is it time to sort this out with a professional?

it has helped me be more confident..and helps me deal with issues..i care more about my self now and what i want instead of caring about what other people want..i love it

it is a little of both. You are maturing, and the prozac is enabling you to think more clearly. I would suggest seeing a therapist, they can help you to focus better on what you actually want, right now I suspect you are having "knee jerk reactions" to those things you think are making you unhappy. Be very sure about what you do want before you go making someone else miserable.

The new "twins" gave your ego a boost, and you know you can have someone else who treats you well.

I think it is time to talk to someone to help you evaluate your life and help you put things into perspective. Anti-depressants are very over prescribed (bet your GP had no issue putting you on Prozac). Find a counselor that you feel comfortable with, and sort out your feelings. I used anti-depressants for two years, and with counseling I was able to stop taking them. I don't think understood how I felt about things in my life. Emotions are something that can be controlled in most people, we just look for the easy way out.

<<URGENT WARNING>>

avoid MENTAL DRUGS whenever possable

PROZAC made me VIOLENT instead of less violent - it also caused my concentration levels go down <GRADES IN SCHOOL SUFFERED> it also caused <ED> ERECTILE DISFUNCTION

You have a lot of issues and a professional could definitely help you sort things out. It's hard to do it all by yourself.

I found that prozac (and later, paxil) helped me to do good things that I had wanted to do but just never could before. That included more self-confidence and a lot less anger. I learned how to get along with my husband too.

Good luck.

guess the meds really worked for you..be grateful....i think i need some....
