How do you take yourself away from the computer?!

Question: Every time I have work to do, I always get distracted by the computer. Worst part is, my school work requires me to use the computer (essays, research, etc). Even turning off the internet causes me to browse through my video and music collection. Is there any easy way to stop this habit? Are there techniques to form better habits?

I wouldn't be answering your question if I didn't have the same problem! But the best way to tackle this is to set yourself a time limit. Designate yourself a certain amount of time that you will spend doing what you must do - your essays etc. Do only that in the time alloted. Have an amount of time assigned for your other activities to do AFTER you have completed the time for your studies. Knowing you will have the opportunity to indulge yourself afterwards, you can do your work. When that time is up you can really enjoy your passtime and know you earned it.

just Get up

Well, when you are on da comp. doing school work that doesn't include internet, unplug the internet. Stuff like that which completely disables yourself to use it. i don't know what u an do about ur music and vids.....just make a deal with urself..like if u manage to do ur homework without getting distracted by other stuff, reward urself with something :)

u get it

Maybe prioritise what needs to get done and make sure these things get done first. Then you can devote some time to recreational use afterwards. If your time on the computer doing other recreational things is getting to be a bit of a problem, set time limits and stick to them. Otherwise make sure you have enough activities outside of computer use to keep you active and busy, especially outdoors. Taking away an interest and not filling the time in with something else will make it harder to change a habit. Cheers!

ask ur mom to

I can't :(
I can't give you any advice because I have the same thing around me, sorry...
