If you don't have a car are you supposed to just sit at home?!

Question: Say you want to go to concerts, museums, sporting events like basketball games and football games, fishing, nature hikes, and so on and so forth. Like say just for the sake of argument your license was revoked. Or you just can't drive even with glasses on. Cabs are sort of expensive because it is about 40 miles to the nearest major city. Or you're disabled so driving isn't feasible.

with friends like that, you don't need enemies! i can see chipping in for gas, because it costs so darned much, but to charge you for driving you to an event? as your friend??? make others your friends, but check them out real well first. ya know, prof, i am such a lucky woman. back in the '60s, before it got shot to he*l, we believed in helping one another. really, we did, and we did it, too.

not knowing where you live, i can only say this: sometimes you can rent cars from enterprise (they even drive it to you) on weekends for a very low price, and it's a good car. of course, you must have a credit card with an amount equal to the rental cost, even if you will pay in cash, open to be used. car rental companies, all of them, require it.

okay, so say your license is frozen (get sober, silly, because you will then meet some wonderful instead of creepy people): why don't you try to visit your local airport? sometimes free buses will take you to a hotel close to your destination.

or search for transportation resources via a search engine per your zip code.

or call your chamber of commerce: always a good resource for just about everything you need in your community. they are know it alls. if they can't help you, they will know who can.

of course, if you have a bicycle, you can ride it, but 40 miles is a little tough. how about buying, when you have learned your DUI lessons, a Vespa? you would need a really good lock, but it won't eat much gas.

watch "invention nation," a new TV show on cable. i believe you can find it on the science channel or else national geographic. a group of chums go all about their part of the world on bicycles with little motors to check out new green systems of all kinds, including methods of transportation. you might have that lightbulb go off in your head as a result.

good luck. no, don't stay home. do SOMETHING!

I would definitely say yes on this one.

Walk or cycle. Use whatever assets you have to move.

Until I got my license I caught buses and walked in between.
You don't have to sit at home.
Get a lift with a friend or go visit a friend.

You find people with common interests and ask them for a ride

Get a friend with a car.

No. Get a friend to go with you. You help pay for gas and let him take his car.

Don't be nice to people because you want something from them. Be nice because you like them. Give before you ask. Your dependency on other people for a care drive isn't bad but it seems to me you are emotional dependent, people don't like that and guys absolutely not. Take your own responsibility, is it that bad to pay for a drive? Public transport you have to pay too.

public transport - buses, trains, etc
walk
get a bike

i can't drive because of a medical condition which has totally screwed my eyes so i have no depth perception and i still get around fine ;)
