Is this addiction?!

Question: Alright my girlfriend says I'm addicted to weed.
Here's the facts:
I stopped smoking weed around 5 months ago when we started dating because I found out she didn't like me doing it. I had a small stash in my room and it's still there to this day. We were talking about it today and I told her I sometimes miss it, I miss smoking with people and being social and stuff. She turns around and says I'm addicted and that I'm in denial! Her logic is is you do something and you miss it, you're addicted.
"once you do it and you want to do it again, youre addicted"
I show her hundreds of definitions of addiction talking about dependence and she still insists I'm addicted. I said:
"so if you play some pool, you get done and say 'wow that was fun i want to do it again,' you're addicted?"
she said "yes"

Since Y!A is her favorite site in the world and she wont listen to me, I come to you to talk some sense into her. Is this addiction or are her views messed up?

I dont think you are addicted in any way shape or form. Addicts cant just give something up like that cold turkey...and especially have it laying around their house and not touch it. You are not addicted! I used to do it myself quite a bit, and I miss it but Im not an addict. I haven't done it in years. Right now, your girlfriend is your priority so you gave that up for her...like I gave it up for my husband. It wasn't hard I just never did it again...and Im not an addict. An addict makes the drug their #1 priority, and she is more important to you...once again making you NO ADDICT!

hahahahahahahhaahahahhahaha.
man you're a funny kid.

YOU'RE ADDICTED KID.
FACE THE TRUTH.
OR FALL INTO SUBMISSION BOI.

You don't get "addicted" to weed.

ok ur not addicted

if u were addicted i think u would have gone crazy by now
unless u can control ur wanting
that is not addiction

Well, at the risk of getting dragged into the middle of some argument...

There are many signs and symptoms of addiction. Your girlfriend has picked up on one, but it takes more than one symptom to warrant a diagnosis. Here is the best rule of thumb for determining if you have an addiction to a substance:

If use of the substance, or activities done to aquire the substance, cause impairment in your emotional, social, academic, occupational or legal functioning, and despite these difficulties you are unable or unwilling to significantly cut-back or stop your substance use.

For the record, substance ABUSE (a less severe diagnosis) is one or two instances of impairment in the areas listed above, but the individual has insight and is able to reform their use habits.

You and your girlfriend both have points. If your relationship is about who's right and who's wrong it's going to be more stressful than it needs to be...

Don't you have homework to do?

Comparing playing pool and smoking weed are two different things! You must of come up with this one while you were smoking it.

Smoking weed - "miss smoking with people and being social and stuff."

Perhaps, addiction is not quit the right description at this point, stupid habit about sums it up!

What do you care what she thinks, she's going to break up with you anyway!
