usually therapy will help a person with bpd the most, along with, perhaps some medications. if you are too depressed, then the therapy may not work as well, and the medications are given to help you accept and work with the therapy. the therapy can take up to a year or a little longer. i know you do not like medication, and i do not blame you . but if you are on the right anti depressant medication, it should be one with the least side effects, and that you can function better . it does not mean that you have to be on medication the rest of your life. your depression may be holding you back as an artist, and you may be more productive with some medication. hope this helps you, but as i say i think the therapy is the most important aspect of you feeling better . good luck

no but it can be treated and you need a really good Dr to diagnose BLPD so get a second opinion and get busy nothing like being busy fights depression

hi - you havent stated how old you are, nor how long you've had this diagnosis for.

BPD is a disorder that stays with most people until they are approximately 40 years of age. However, many people learn to manage this disorder really well earlier in their lives.

If they manage their BPD symptoms better, they manage their lives better. And if they manage their lives better, there are less stressors. And if there are less stressors, depression should get slightly better.

Chances are you'll need to be on antidepressants for a few years... but it really does depend on if you feel they are working/need them. Not everyone with BPD is on an antidepressant!

I'd recommend DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) to learn how to manage your BPD better. I recommend starting NOW.

Good Luck!

From my personal experience with a friend with BPD, you need someone in your life who has much time to spend with you and who is very supportive and nurturing. Think in terms of improvement, rather than cure.

Before I started recieving therapy I was on so many meds I had to get the pharmacist to help me organize them, now I'm psych. med free, and have been since November.. I do wish that I at least stayed on an anti-depressant to control "some" symptons, at least the suicidal thoughts. I also have BPD, and as you know it's a struggle day to day, minute by minute, but you have to find a good therapist that is "willing" to work with you, which means more frustration then they could bargin for. We're not easy to deal with and thats why no one even wants to attempt helping us, but find the right one for the job and thats the biggest step. You will catch yourself playing games in the beginning just to see if they are serious about helping, but once you get over that, you're on your way to recovery.. They say you can be cured from BPD, I myself don't believe that, I do believe that we can re-train our brains, and learn new ways of coping in life, but it'll always be a part of who we are, an alcoholic is still an alcoholic even in recovery.. you're in recovery for life... Keep looking, and therapy is the best medicine, you will have to work hard to get off your meds, the majority of them anyways.. just keep trying..
