Will my psychiatrist be able to prescribe medicine over the phone?!
Question: I'm away at college. Do I need to find a new psychiatrist, or is it possible to pay my old psychiatrist to speak with me and prescribe medicine over the phone? Thanks.

Depending on how well your psychiatrist knows you, he/she may be able to call in prescription(s) to your pharmacy.
Although, depending on what medications you are taking, some cannot be called in. You must bring the hard copy into the pharmacy on your own.
It would be a good idea if you could make an appointment to see him/her when you are on vacation. I hope things work out for you.

I bet it depends on how well he/she thinks he/she knows you and the medication. If you need medication than you should probably look for a new psychiatrist and a new therapist/etc. for the time you will be at college.
Being your away he/she may be willing to continue the same prescription you are on, call and explain the situation. If you are going to require a change, then not so likely and you may need to find one closer.
Depends on how long he has been your psychiatrist, what he is treating you for, what kinds of meds you want, and what your state of mind is. It would be unusual for him to do so unless he knows you really well but he may be able to give you the name of someone to see where you are now. If he would prescribe you meds and something happened, he would be in lots of trouble but contact him and ask him what you should do.
some meds him/her may... if it is a new med then most likely not... they want you come in sometimes to do follow-ups etc. him/her may have you see a therapist and cosult with the therapist to see how you are doing.
