You are a nurse.... yes? That is one of the most stressful jobs in the world. You are thinking that you are some bad person or something and that is just not so. Each and every day you have to care for complete strangers who are not feeling well. That is very taxing emotionally. Suggest to your doc that maybe he could prescribe some Xanax ( might have spelled that wrong) for when you are off work to 'unclutter' your mind and focus more on taking care of yourself...and leave your job behind for awhile.

I get celexa and now i hardly ever get mad.

it sounds like you are a nice person underneath your short fuse. maybe u should actually ask you doc to refer you to a psychiatrist intead so that the psychiatrist figure out what type of disorder u may have and set u up with the right kind of meds and therapy. never be ashamed to ask about your meltal health, more ppl than u think have issues too.

This technique usually works for me. Grab both your earlobes and twizzle them. Then breathe out and say ":whooooossaaaa".

Good luck

MEDICINE IS NOT THE SOLUTION!!!!! Why dont you try not yell/screaming/hittng or whatever you doing so much. Drugs cant magicly fix anything like they tell you they can.

i don't think you need to jump in to medication right away because medicine doesn't always make every thing better i think you should just try being yourself and if the people cant except you for who you are then u don't need those people in your life

I think you need to take a break first before taking medication. See, the problem with mood stabilizing drugs is that there are too many side-effects & you become more prone to recurrences with use.

So, first try to calm yourself a bit...try options like meditation , yoga, etc. Take time off to thinm what you really need to do & explain how you feel to your family & get their support as well.

How old are you? Sometimes, these symptoms appear with the changes of the periodic cycle & also during the peri-menopausal age(around menaopause).

If you still think you need help even after trying some of the above things....trying talking to your doc instead of asking him to prescribe medicine for you...he/she'll do the needful.

This happens to me to, but usually I am not stressed out.. I just get angry. I can relate in a sense though.

What you should do is talk to your doctor and see what he thinks the problem is. Perhaps it is an actually mental illness, or it could be an anger problem.

In that case anger managment may be a good idea.

lol... the doctor can't just give you any medicine you want. I mean... there must be a present problem. Would you give someone adderall if they didn't have ADHD? If your doctor would he is not a valid doctor in my eyes

i used to get extremely angry, grouchy, and very high tempered if things don't go my way, or if i really need something that i don't have or need at the moment. just stop being angry so easily, it's bad for your health and it's horrible that you snap extremely fast at your husband and even your own children, this could really hurt the love and relationship with your husband and possibly your children. so stop that, it's all psychological.

200 mg of Zoloft per day helps me. Whenever I start to snap at people, I am reminded that I forgot to take it. It is essential for my well being and every one I contact. It has helped me become more like the person that I want to be. I started out at a smaller dose and gradually worked up to 200mg. which is needed for me, but the dose depends on the person. I have talked to some people that did not like it, but for me and my family it has been a blessing.

Since you do snap so easy I would go to a physchiatrist and have him evaluate you. I snap easy too I'm a really nice person but I stress easy and I snap quickly, but I usually cheer up pretty fast. I have yet to go to the doctor to be evaluated because I'm scared of being medicated. Bipolar runs in my family and I'm fairly sure I have it at least a slight case of it. You sound like you may have a borderline case of it also or it could be a hormonal imbalance. Depression or Anxiety are also a couple of things that will cause people to snap quickly. One of my best friends has a really bad case of Bipolar and her meds have messed her body up big time. I've also been medicated it wasn't fun at all. They had me on a a pill to help my mood swings that turned me into a zombie and as a side effect my eyes would just roll back in my head, so they put me on another med to counteract that, and then they had me on another pill to counteract the side effects of that. I slept constantly it's all I could do. If you go see a doc I would ask him for other alternatives to medication and see if that will help you first. You have a husband and children you don't want to be a zombie. My grandmother was on litium most of my mom's childhood and her kids grew to resent her for it. She had to be medicated still does because she is not a pleasent person if she's not.
Here's some of the drugs they use
lithium
Tegretol
Depakote
Neurontin
Lamictal
For Antidepressants they have
Wellbutrin
Zoloft
haloperidol
lorazepam
You can go to this website also to do a test screen on yourself for it

Good luck to you I hope you find what you need feel better.

I was like you alot of my earlier life. Sounds like you need to be on an anti-depressant and possibly something for anxiety.
Explain all of your symptoms to your Dr. also some therapy won't hurt then you can just let it all out. I think you are candidate for meds they have saved me for many years and I will continue to take them.
