Do you think compulsive overeating is lack of willpower or an addiction?!

Question: I strongly believe it is an addiction and even more difficult to control because food is a necessity, not like heroin or cocaine.

Answers: I strongly believe it is an addiction and even more difficult to control because food is a necessity, not like heroin or cocaine.

I truly believe that it's an addiction. Instead of being addicted to crack or cocaine, you have the food there as being more affordable than illegal drugs.

Complusive eating is on way a person may get rid of stress also. It's just another battle for someone to overcome.

Food addiction is an ACTUAL addiction, like drugs.

It starts as lack of willpower but can end up as an addiction

Overeating can be an addiction, and sometimes people do enter treatment or counseling to figure out how to control it. It is a way of thinking too.

I think it is a way of calming oneself down-a way to keep control. A lot of people feel like thier life is out of control so they eat because eating is something they have control over, but in all reality its just another thing that is making them lose control over their lives. Thats what i think.

I think it's a lack of willpower but may feel like an addiction and you may act in certain ways characteristic of addiction.

Overeaters Anonymous indicates it's the same as chemical addictions, but it's a bit different. It's the case of the problem drinker: are they really an alcoholic or just go a bit too far? They might go on to become alcoholics but to be chemically addicted is different.

lack of willpower. definitely.

It's an addiction to food just like alcohol is to the alcoholic.

i wouldnt say addiction so much as habit. like oh, life is fucked up ill eat. or im bored ill eat. a comfort zone, if you will.

Hi,

I am a detox specialist and I specialize in helping people lose weight.

You are right to say that compulsive eating is some form of addiction. You see, people eat because of a few reasons:
-the first reason is tat you run out of energy and so your body sends you a signal.. but the only message you receive is EAT.

- the second reason is that your body ran out of certain nutrients and so your body sends you a signal to get more vitamins. Eg, you need vitamin C and the body sends you a signal but all you receive in the end is "Hungry, eat!" and so you eat. If you choose to NOT eat vit C, very shortly, the body will keep sending that signal again for you to eat.

- the third reason is that it is time for you to have your meals and your gastric juices come out to remind you to eat

- the fourth and most common reason is tat we eat because we are bored. When we are bored and have nothing to do, alot of the old, suppressed bad feelings come back to haunt us. In order to suppress it and keep it there, we eat to cover it up and use eating as a form of running away from our issues. We wrongly think that eating will make us feel better. But the voice in your head that asks you to "eat, so tat you will feel better" will be the same voice tat says, "look at you, you are a fat pig..." when you look into the mirror the next day... and then you feel guilty and because guilt will only make you do what of you feel guilty about, you eat more and the viscious cycle goes on and on.

The good news is that the biggest power we as human beings have is the POWER OF CHOICE! You can choose to stay slim, choose to be healthy and choose to be happy.

And the easiest and FASTEST way I know to lose weight is to detox.

I myself have lost 33 pounds within 2 mths doing this detox programme.

My mentor also lost 15 pounds within a week doing the detox ;)

A detox is healthy because it brings balance back to your body and losing weight is just a by product of the detox. So at the end of the detox, you will find yourself get more energetic, healthier, more radiant looking as well.

And the detox is simple. All you need to do is three things.

Number one, follow the detox programme which requires you to change your diet a little bit. Eg, take more vege and less meat and seafoods.

Number two, use 1 minute a day to take some natural health foods that I take to enhance the speed and the effect of the detox.

Number three, drink lots of water to flush the toxins out..

And that's it.

The rest is up to you.

So what do you think? ;)
