Even though the stress from extreme changes in a persons mental state can cause small amounts of memory loss there are plenty of other possible causes, If a person doesn't remember something due to stress, it's best just to leave it be.

Is it possible she has a split personality (dual personality)? Not schitzophrenia because despite the name, it isn't dual personality. With multiple or dual personalities, neither "person" remembers what the other has done.

Being forgetful and being bipolar are nowhere near the same thing. They can overlap, obviously, but just because she doesn't remember something from a couple weeks ago doesn't mean she's bipolar. People throw that term around way too much and it's losing relevance, which sucks for people who really are bipolar.

no, bipolar just means you act differently, but you do remember it, although you may not remember it as severely.

seems she may have some mental issues, or is blacking out, i recommend checking with a doctor.

Bipolar disorder typically does not entail memory loss, but rather during a 'down' stage a person cannot understand what they thought was such a wonderful idea, or how they thought they could get away with... whatever. If there is memory loss, it is another issue altogether, although that doesn't rule out multiple conditions. If she is agreeable, it's time to talk to a professional.

Good luck.

Well there's no way to know it unless she gets a specialized medical check.

Memory loss may be one of the characteristics of a bipolar person because some medications bipolar people take sometimes affect the memory. But being bipolar by itself doesn't affect the memory.

Bipolar or not, what is sure is that there is something not working well on her brain. Best bet is to see a doctor. Preferably a neurologist.

Hi,
does she get high or drink?
i don't think that bi-polar refers to any mental disorder beyond severe mood swings.
are these things that she's forgetting every day things? or heat of the moment angry things?
she could just have a short term memory problem, or doesn't pay enough attention to things to remember.
that's all i got

Bipolar generally has nothing to do with memory loss. That could be do to another condition.

Bipolar, also known as manic depression, is a condition that causes wild and fast mood swings that are emotionally exhausting and very painful. One moment it will cause someone to laugh and smile with joy, the next moment they could be sobbing uncontrollably, and the next they could go into a screaming fit of anger.

Fortunately, bi-polar condition is treatable with meds.

Definitely not bipolar... definitely not. It could truly be poor memory, or even the annoying tactic kids use of acting stupid.

Maybe something is weighing really heavily on conscience, distracting her from her daily activities.

If she is to go to any doctor, I'd send her to a neurologist.
