Can anyone tell me where there is a good web site regarding help for schizophren!
Question: We are both disabled as I need a lung transplant and my hubby is schizophrenic. We have been with a publuc psychiatrist now for 8 years, and we are almost back to square one. I am almost housebound and another person lives with us to help with us and our 5 kids. I would really like my partner to see a private psychiatrist. Can anyone suggest any in Melbourne that bulk bill or don't charge very much. - Desperate for help!!

I can't help you in the above question, but it may well be of interest to you to know that I found a website that you can talk to others who have related illness such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder etc, its a site that allows you to also make friends.
the site is: www.nolongerlonely.com I really sincerely wish you luck & if you wish to make contact with me on the site I am known as AussieMale69... Please take care...
I am sorry for your troubles.
My brother is schizophrenic, but he's getting a lot better. There was one stage when my father thought that he was cured, so he lessened his medicine. That was a mistake. I'm sorry i can't help you as i dont live in melbourne.
I wish your family all the best.

Have you heard of ARAFMI, association for relatives and family of mentally ill. Google ARAFMI and will take you to the website. They are a national organisation.
As for your Dr probs get in touch with your local mental health clinic in the public system and it will be free. See your GP for a referral.
