As an old school teacher I hope I may be able to help. First you need to realize that I understand teachers tend to talk to much. When I taught teachers at the University of Missouri I would spend a lot of time teaching them how to teach more and talk less. It is hard to stay focused for long periods of time so it really helps if teachers would break up their presentations. Some don't. So what to do. Learn to take brief notes of highlights. Try not to write down everything they say just write down the important headings. It really helps if you understand what they are talking about so be sure to read the book and do the home work. Then if you have things you do not understand you can listen to see if they provide the answers, if not you can ask questions. Let me know what classes are hard for you and how it is going.
