I suffer from anxiety too and I hated always feeling sedated. I found focusing on my breathing when I'm anxious helps because my breathing is one thing I can control. It's good to practice slow deep breathing before you have an anxiety attack. Carrying around my cell phone with me is comforting because I always feel connected to someone. I'm always afraid I'm going to passout during an attack and being able to call someone when I'm super anxious and let them know how I feel helps me.
I would also try to identify what triggers your anxiety. Is it specific emotions? Is it certain situations? Knowing what factors might be making you anxious can help you develop effective ways of dealing with your anxiety in those situations.

Good luck!

Absolutely...
1st) Change your inner dialogue (what you say to yourself) to positive affirmations.
It also REALLY helps if you know GOD... like really know Him and have a personal relationship with Him!
He loves you and wants you to feel good about life; instead of anxious most of the time.
"Come to me ALL who are weary and Heavy laden and I will give you rest"! Matt 11:28 It's a verse from HIS Word, the Bible.
Another good one is...
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
