My friend was worried, so i'm asking...?!

Question: Ok basically, my emotions are completely unstable, normally i'd be happy, and every now and then i'd have a few days being low. I know this is completely normal for most people.

But my problem started 2 weeks ago, basically, i was miserable for those entire 2 weeks, i'd randomly burst into tears, and i'd barely be able to sleep.
But then today, for no reason, i felt INCREDABLY happy again, and i mean it, i was on a real high. Nothing like i'd felt in ages.

Annnd basically my friends are worried about me, and said i should see a doctor, but i don't trust the ones in my area, they were far to condesending to me last time, so i decided to look on the internet instead, and i'm unsure what to think.

So i'm asking you all for your opinion

Any answers are welcome, as long as you have a good reason for thinking so

Thank you for your help

You're getting good advice about a possible mood disorder. I'm going to tell you how I found a doctor that I really liked after having some bad experiences. Try calling a local mental health clinic and asking for a referral to a support group for bipolar disorder. Sometimes they can give you a phone number and you can ask one of the members of the support group who they like in the area or even who you should stay away from. There is an organization called :The National Depressive and Manic Depressive Society (I think) who sponsers the support group I found out about locally. To sum it up, ask for help from someone who really gets what's going on with you. If you're problem isn't bipolar, the doctor will help you figure out what it is. Be tenacious. Feeling better is worth it.

"But then today, for no reason, i felt INCREDABLY happy again, and i mean it, i was on a real high. Nothing like i'd felt in ages."

sounds very much like mania, that combined with depression means you should consult with a psychiatrist to help with a treatment plan.

If this shift in mood is not caused by prescription or illegal drugs, go see a doctor. Take a mental inventory and see if you can think of anything different that began two weeks ago.

You are probably in depression. You may still have good days and bad one's. But, just keep a positive attitude, try to relax, and hopefully you will continue to feel good. If not, then you may need an antianxiety med to help. Good Luck and I hope you continue to feel good.

depression or bipolar (just a guess), go see a doctor if you are worried. best wishes.

you could be manic depressive, or bipolar

look there are in times in your life where things just get unwired and you lose the plot. it can span a few days and even a few years, and many things can cause it

hormonal, your environment-if your unhappy, studies , boyfriends etc.
you should talk to your friends upfront about your problems as i think as westerners we tend to try hide our emotions and inner conflicts. trust your friends and open up as if you were them, you'd try your best to help your pal.

you problem could be anythign as it's really not very clear. does any family members act like this at times? if you are unstable it sounds like your depressed, and yes this is normal, but you can definitely improve this situation, either with help- councillng, or health changes- nutrition and exercise(this is Really Helpful) or if you feel no other alternative some drug to get you back on your feet and in control.

See a good doctor , even phone up some receptionist and say you would like to speak to someone caring about this issue and they shld recommend someone they think is suitable.

all the best ok, you have a choice to change this, you don't have to be miserable, but you do have to make an effort to change this- and you have by posting on here, so im sure you can keep making steps and fixt this :) tc

Sounds like a minor case of Bi-polar or mild depression. Try taking some online tests to see if you fit into anyone of those two categories (Try googling bi-polar test). A lot of times these feelings are triggered by a major event in your life. They can be either good or bad experiences such as a death in the family or a new baby on the way. If it continues I would think it would be best to see a doctor even if you dread it. You can always get referrals from your medical insurance (if you have it) or through other sources like your job or the internet. A doctor would be the best way to determine if this is just a short episode or a chemical imbalance that may continue down the road. Best of luck.
