How can an Obsessive Compulsive patient tell if he or she is having magical thou!

Question: I am a medicated OCD patient, and while I feel that I should ask my health professional first and foremost, I would also like to hear what others in close contact with those that have OCD have to say on the issue.

I started medication about 6 months ago, and I got to a point that the prescribing doctor felt that I could increase my dosage just a bit more (one increment), and would keep me there for 6 months as long as I didn't see adverse reactions from it (which so far I have had none ever).

However, I have been keeping up the dosage, and I still feel that I am having magical thoughts of "if I don't do this then I will get anxious," so I cave in. It is mostly in regard to the food and beverages that I consume. I feel it necessary to think thoughts of thanks ("Thank you food") or say "thanks" to the food. As a religion based OCD, I feel that I am still a slave.

I've started to worry about sending thoughts to absent people or through time to others (a morphed symptom of mine)

Sounds like you need your meds adjusted. The meds should be controlling the compulsive thoughts. See your doctor.

Make an appointment with your prescribing physician...its sounds like you need to increase the dosage of your medication. Only a medical professional can help you with this. Good luck.
