me too, tell the doctor/nurse that youre scared of needles. They'll be more gentle. also dont look at the needle. If you feel weak, ask them to let you sit or lie down while they do it.
Whenever i need a needle i buy this cream in the chemist that you put on a few hours on the part theyll be putting the needle. It deadens the area so you cant feel anything. Even though its more the thought of a needle than the pain that scares me, because i cant feel it, i just close my eyes and think of sth else and then all of a sudden the nurse i telling me shes finished and i havent even realised.

theres EMLA cream or amethocaine cream that you can use.

No need to be afraid of the needle, be very afraid of the idiot sticking it into you.

Don't look when they are using them....hold someone's hand.

Get someone to sit next to you, the opposite side to the nurse or whoever, and just sit and talk, whenever I've had injections and things, I don't even notice it. You only really feel it when you're focusing on it going into your arm, if you're talking, you shouldn't even feel it.

i was so afriad of needles & then i kept getting more & more blood work done. i would bruise really bad. before i was never scared, but even now i get all freaked about it.

when you do get tests done...just focus on something & stick to that thought. focus on the display of paintings on the wall (if they have any.) sort of zone to that & not think about the needle. might work, works sometimes for me.

I generally chat - with their permission - to the person who will be using the needle and look the other way while they do it. There is a book/method called THE RELAXATION RESPONSE which is quite good. When you feel like tensing up that is the signal to relax completely - I always do this at the dentists and at the doctors - and I hardly feel a thing!

If your body is calm and relaxed and your mind is distracted and you aren't even looking, you feel less pain!

All the best! You will be fine!
