PAXIL - question?!

Question: Yesterday I was prescribed paxil. I spent all morning talking to a therapist and a doctor sat in. I later went back to see the same doctor since he knew the story and he prescribed me Paxil. I went to pick up the prescription and they wouldn't give it to me, saying I needed a psychological evaluation to get Paxil.

Isn't that what I went through all morning? What is the next step I take? What do I do?

IMnot sure what the problem is but i know that Doctors (MD) dont usually precribe stuff like that technically it has to be prescribed by a psychiatrist but obviously your doctor didnt think you would have a problem. I would contact the doc who gave you the prescription and maybe he can contact the pharmacy or get a prescription from a psychiatrist for you.

I guess schedule a psych eval, and in the mean time by some Paxi online from India.

I'm not sure I understand. If you had a legitimate prescrition, the pharmacy should have filled it. Who wrote it--the dr or the therapist? Therapists can't write prescriptions. Can you try another pharmacy? If not, call the dr and have him or her call the pharmacy.

Was it that the pharmacist wouldn't give it to you or that your insurance is denying it for payment. If your doctor prescribed it, your pharmacy can't just not give it to you. Your insurance company can make prerequisites like this before they pay for the drug. You probably just need to have your doctor call you insurance company for an authorization to explain that you have already gone through the motions in order to get this. So, don't panic, I think its going to be alright.
