My son sleeps until 4 oclock in the afternoon. Is this normal?!

Question: Hi Jackie, as some of us
know{review Jackie's profile} your son has bipolar illness and hasn't yet adjusted to his meds. I know it's really hard on you and you do all you can for him, but yeah it's probably normal for him, at this stage of his treatment. I've said it before and will probably say it again- sometimes it takes years. I know you won't give up on him, try to be patient, keep loving him, try not to nag too much, make sure he continues his treatment and everything should be all right. Best wishes

how old is he...if he's older...he probably jacks off...lol just a thought

If he is a teenager, yes.

If not, no.

how late does he stay up? how many hours is he sleeping? how old is he? does he work?

these questions will help us with that

how old is he. If he is a teen..its normal

It is if he is a bat. Does he hang from the ceiling when he sleeps?

No, there's no reason he should be up late. He should spend his day doing productive things.

how old is he? how many hours of sleep does he get? he probably should wake up earlier but i need more info.

depends what time he goes to bed lol, but that is an odd time to wake up

Yes and no tell the doctor.

out of high school, no college, no job? kick him out.

Only if he stays up until 6 AM. He's probably up all night watching Cinemax or porn.

What time does he go to bed? It sounds like he's on a wierd sleeping schedule. Maybe put him to bed earlier. If he sleep for like 15 hours at a time, he could have some sort of sleeping disorder. Ask a doctor! Good luck!

Not normal. Could be depressed or staying out/up to late.

if he's like, a teenager, it's normal

how old is he

nd i no a lot kids who sleep late but 4 is real late

get him active

what time did he go to bed

depends on how old he is, and what he is doing all night.

i used to do that when i worked at taco bell during the midnight hours. just don't let him get into the habit.

i did that when i use to stay up till 6 or 7am

make him go to bed earlyer

or maby hes got mono?

not unless he was VERY quiet after you went to bed last night, and the basement window was open a crack

I am 16 and when i sleep that long my mom asks me if i am depressed. I just think that a teenager just wants to sleep in if he has nothing to do. I mean they wake up early all week long just let him sleep in on the weekends

no this is not normal.

He has to learn what life is about.

A talk is needed. He is wasting his time.... (like more teenagers do)

depends ... whats time does he go to sleep at ... does he work?... does he go to school... he could just be haviong to many things to do.. and not enough sleep in his system to accomplish his days worth of work..

im 19 im in college during winter break every night i went to bed after 3 am and slept till at lease 2pm yes its normal teenagers sleep alot dont wake him up

Oh god, its very normal! I used to do it when i was younger!

My older brother has just grown out of it aswell, its a form of laziness.

Well i spose it does depend on how old he is, obviously if hes not in his teens then it could be medical,

Hope this helps xx

it depends how old your son is, mabey because hes still growing and he needs sleep, ormabey he stays up until 6 am

if he is up all nite yes if he sleeps nite and day thent thats sign of something wrong

Teenagers tend to sleep a bit longer (and thats OK as long as they start sleeping at a reasonable time - when the body is growing it needs more sleep time) but 4pm is a bit much.

It has a lot to do with when he goes to sleep but depending on his age and his responsibilities you should be looking into that as well. Its not necessarily a serious thing but it could be an indication of more serious problems.
