I take 20mg of Paxil daily. Is this a therapeutic dose?!

Question: I ask because Even though I have been on it for more than a week, I really don't notice any difference yet. My doctor wants me to go up to 40mg; however, I read that too much Paxil is not good for you. I experience the following problems:

1. Social anxiety
2. General anxiety
3. Mild depression
4. Concentration problems

Am I wasting my time with this stuff? Or, should I give it more time to have the desired effect?

Try it for at least a month, one week isn't a very long time.

20mg is the usual dose.

I took Paxil for about 10 years; I have taken 20, 30 and 40 at different times. It's not that unusual to take 40mg.

Keep taking it. Sometimes its takes a few weeks to really make a difference.

You need to give it more time and if it still doesn't help, consider going up to 40mg.

yes that is anormal dose for ur case

I take 20 mg and it works for me, but you may need more. Give it a try. I think if it is going to work for you (and some people it takes a few weeks to kick in), you will know it. Things that would have bothered you are not so hard anymore.
