What should you do if family find out you been self harming?!

Question: Get to the doctor, you don't have to tell your family anything...But you have to take care of yourself. If your doctor is not helpful, you will have to keep trying different doctors until you find one that you can trust. You don't want to make yourself sick, or get skin infections and scars...Life won't get better until you get a doctor who listens to you.

Explain to them why you do it. If they end up yelling at you, which does not help. They just don`t understand. I sugest you get help.

Harming yourself is not a good thing. If they find out it might actually begin a process of healing. If you are harming yourself, you need to request mental health services. If you are a teenager you can do this in most states without your parent's consent. I believe you have to have their consent for medication, however. They may not like it, but they need to know that you are mentally distressed and need help.

Not much of a question is it drugs achohol or blades,Which ever the family should express their love for you openly then YOU think seriously about what you are doing to THEM!!!!

Say and do the truthful thing.

Explain what and why you do it. There's good website I found which would explain your family of why people self harm ; www.nshn.co.uk

I have been SI for almost 8yrs now and I still have not told my family but if they found out I would sit them down and explain what I feel like and what I am feeling when I do it and how it makes me feel and How I feel after I have hurt myself. It must be scary for family to know those deep dark secrets but if they find out tell them to get informed and not to judge you for the things you have done and the ways you cope with your feelings.
