narcotics anonymous is a good start

Suboxone (not sure of spelling) is a community opiate maintenance program, but I'm sure that costs money. A lot of communities have outpatient treatment and they may have a grant or sliding fee based on income.

Good Luck.

if an addict wants to get clean and REALLY wants it nothing will stop them. If he has been to rehab then he should already have the tools to help him get clean unless he left early, i would suggest Narcotics Anonymous its free and it has worked for millions of people who have wanted to get clean but didnt have a ton of money. Also tell him to go see a doctor for the detox to find out if it will be dangerouse to his health and if there is anything he should be taking to make the withdrawl easier physically on his body also tell the doctor the types of drugs he is taking and ask what a normal detox time for these drugs will be. I wish the best for you and your friend, addiction is a horrible disease and it effects everyone.

reguarding the drugs from the doctor that he cannot afford perhaps taking a week or however long off that it will take him to detox would be good and if you really want to be there to help your friend do the same and be there with him to help him through his pain and prevent him from doing the drugs when hes going through withdrawl, he will need support, thats what family and friends are for. Detoxing is VERY hard and being alone while detoxing is nearly impossible, hes going to go through some nasty times, hot and cold sweats, shakes, vomiting, and maybe more. Perhaps dump out all his drugs and flush them, for the time it takes for him to detox he could give you all his money so he cannot buy more, go on a trip somewhere where he knows no one so he cant get whoever is selling these drugs to him to front them and check into a compfortable room. HE HAS TO WANT IT AND WHEN HE DOES HE WILL DO WHATEVER HE HAS TO TO STOP, THAT INCLUDES BOTHERING HIS PARENTS FOR MONEY, WHEN AN ADDICT WANTS TO BE CLEAN ITS A DESPIRATION. HE HAS MONEY FOR DRUGS SO HE IN REALITY MOST LIKELY HAS THE MONEY FOR THE MEDS FOR HIM TO DETOX. IM SORRY ITS A HARD REALITY TO FACE BUT AN ADDICT WILL TELL YOU A LOT OF THINGS, ITS THE ACTIONS THAT MATTER.

depends on the drug. Depends on the way the weaning is done (progressive or sudden) and his willingness to cope with. If you give us more info on my points, maybe easier to help.

Yes. I know lots of people...but he needs a psychiatrist and a intensive outpatient therapy group. See your local drug prevention agency or department of mental health. There is a drug that can be prescribed to help stop cravings caled Suboxone. Check it out. He is going to need some money so perhaps he can go to his parents for that. It is vital to have the therapy group for guidance. Also NA and AA meetings.Good for him for wanting to be clean, It's gona be tough so hang in there!

Normal course of action is to take a lesser amount in small dosages over a long period of time this usually works unless the body craves it .Like all drugs though it requires a little will power sometimes a good friend can help you stick to it .Be a good friend !!!Best of luck.
