Has anyone been urged to do DBT and doesn't want to do it?!
Question: My psychologist is advising me to do DBT so I am going in for an interview tomorrow for a DBT group. See the thing is I don't want to do it. It means I have to give up one of my meetings.

Maybe you can find a different DBT group that will not conflict with that meeting you don't want to give up.
I took DBT for a while. I didn't like the homework. At that time I was not able to manage my stress about the homework.
DBT is very helpful. I got a lot out of it in those few months that I attended the groups. I hope you can find a way to do both DBT and that meeting. Good Luck
You psychologist can't force you to do anything but I would check it out first before you decide if it is not for you. It might end up being better than the meeting you are giving up. :)
"DBT utilizes Zen concepts as a basis to encourage patients to be mindful in the current moment, see reality without delusion, and accept reality and themselves without judgment. This skill, which has its roots in Western contemplative and Eastern meditative practices, is called mindfulness."
Golly, it sounds like something we all need.
