its called depression. see a psychiatrist before going on any medication. they can prescribe the correct dosage and strength medication for your condition. all medication do have side effects. alternatively change your diet and eat more healthy meals, exercise often and see if that helps first. if it does then great, if it doesnt, then see a health professional.

Medication would be indeed likely to cure you, especially those containing endorphins, which causes you to be happy. Chocolate contains endorphins, so if you want, eat a bit more of that.

BUT, personally, i dont think you need it. self-esteem is more important, as no-one should feel worthless. Just build your confidence by playing sports and getting healthier and this feeling should be gone.

I feel your pain my friend, I really do. Every day for the past year and the half for me has just been a complete hell. I just can't seem to cheer myself up and find a single day in life where I am not sad, where I actually enjoy life. I see a therapist once a week, and have for over a year, and let me tell you, it doesn't really help. I mean sure it's nice having someone there to talk to about anything, but they cannot clear up your pessimistic thoughts. Someone on here just advised you go to a gym and work out to try and feel better, no, I do that 6 days a week and it doesn't work. It takes my mind off of life for about an hour a day which is why I do it, but in the long run it doesn't make you happier. Exercising releases endorphins to make you happy, but they only last so long. I would recommend medication, for both you and I. It doesn't hurt to have a little help or boost in life. Good luck to you!

Self-medication never helps. Some advice here on YA! may, provided you act without delay. The best step to take is to seek professional advice from a recognized counsellor, psychologist or psychiatrist. Do not be shy or stingy. The time and money spent will be worth your while.

But basically it is an attitude of mind. If you start comparing with others whether it is in looks, talents, wealth, etc then, you will never be happy. You should start to list down all the skills and positive qualities you have and start off from there. Take up a couple of useful hobbies with someone and keep your mind and spirit occupied in a positive, active way. To laze around indoors and not doing anything will depress yourself further. Go for brisk walking or hit the gym so that you will experience changes and a lifting of the spirit.

Best of luck!

If you have depression, i know what you're going through...
1 word: C.A.M.H.S
They'll help you...

anti-depressents are great. I have had depression my whole life, but since i started taking anti-depressents I am much happier.

See you doctor and find an anti-depressent that will work for you.

Only the doctor gives medication if he considers it is needeed. Go to a doctor. A psichologist can help you as well and often has great achivments.

Find out things that you love and create, relax, get a job that you love, go out and do sports, interact more, make friends, don't run from your problems, face them and find solutions and don't forget: your friends and family loves you! ;)

yes it might along with therapy and exercise

Try taking some 5htp - it's an amino acid and works by raising the serotonin levels in your brain. Take it last thing at night with a carbo snack or some milk. 50-100mg will help you to feel better. It's safe and non-addictive and works far better than any prescribed antidepressant - and I've been on a few in my time.

Also, Rhodiola Rosea (Siberian Golden Root) is good for depression. Take it each morning.

Buy both from the health food store or over the 'net.

Once you start to feel better the feelings of worthlessness will lift - you are only feeling this way because of the depression.

I hope you feel better soon.
