That is a sensitive issue. Indeed you do need to think of yourself, but before you make any decision, it may be worth to sit down with your family and discuss it with them. Reassure your child and tell them that you may look a little different but you'll still be the same person. I think you're child should be very proud of a mother who is balancing a busy life with use of only one side of the body whether the arm is there or not. Good luck.

omgosh thats a tough one. i can understand both sides of the coin.
i guess i would say that beofre any decision is made, you may want to have a family counciling session with an outside party. this person may help sort things out and make the decision more clear.
good luck ..xox

The real question is... are you serious?

Have you been to physical therapy? Often (depending on how bad the stroke was) they can help you get some use out of a limb. If there is no hope in gaining strength, then talk with an orthopedic surgeon about amputation.

sounds like you're obsessing about the useless arm. enjoy being alive and not looked at because of having a missing arm. and you know people will look hard too.

What do you see when you close your eyes? And what about when you open them? How dramatic is the difference? We are entitled to our fantasies. Indeed, we really ought to see them as essential to our well-being. What's the point of a life without dreams? It's true too, that some dreams are best left unfulfilled. They are more enjoyable in the imagination than they would ever be in reality. Yet every so often, we have to get a little of what we want, if only to maintain the tantalising illusion that the rest might just be attainable.
