Strange Phobia?!

Question: I have emetophobia which is the fear of vomiting (or vomiters, vomit, etc)

My boyfriend got sick last night and I was up tossing and turning all night nervous and feeling all panicky....

Does anybody else have any other strange phobias? Anybody have this kind of phobia? I just get an awful feeling.

Yes, I had this for my entire childhood. In kindegarten and first grade I would end up at the nurse's office every single day because I would interpret my nervous stomach (nervous at the thought of vomiting!) as nausea and I'd convince myself I was about to be sick.

In public places when out with my family, I always let someone else have the end seat of the church pew or restaurant booth, in case they needed to get out quick to be sick. Amusement parks were terrifying, because I or someone else might get sick.

I was never sick in a public place, nor was anyone else I knew. I outgrew the phobia by grade 4 or 5 but it was replaced with a fear of choking. Even at 25 my throat often closes up when I'm eating in public places and I am going NUTS inside trying to appear calm and get the food down. It sucks! And no, you're not nuts for having that fear.

nope

I have only one phobia that I know of. Not uncommon at all, Needles can keep me up almost all night for weeks.

That is the only one that I know of that is more than just a common fear. I cant even watch a needle on tv without having racing thoughts, shaking and sweating etc.

I had a really bad fear of peeing myself!
eek!

Its not so uncommon now a days. My one friend was suffering from water phobia, it was a serious problem for him to drink water, surprisingly he was not afraid of other liquid except drinking water. Now he is completely symptom free from Paroxetine medicine.
My other friend was suffering from "sleeping" phobia. He was afraid of that once he sleeps he will not get up [may die]. He is also ok by medicines.

I have a fear of heights. I feel If I climbed a ladder I'd fall off.
