Stopping Effexor XR Abruptly?!
Question: Ok I started Effexor XR about 2 weeks ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I lost weight I was hopeful for once and happy. But I lost my last sample pack and can not go to the doctor for 4 more days. Now I feel very weird and I get so violent out of no where. I can not focus and now I am starting to hear voices. Are these kind of withdraws symptoms normal? I admit I was not the brightest crayon in the box before it but I wasn't Sybil either.

YES.. call your Dr now, the side effects will only get worse. I stopped Effexor XR, it was the hardest thing EVER. In fact they wanted to commit me to get my "brain" back in order.
Call your Dr. to get you more pills, soon you will have brain zaps and those are aweful!.... take it from someone who took it and stopped it.. If and when you decide to stop it, have your Dr. taper you off... not for a week for several weeks...
You need to call your Dr's office and get some to hold you over IMMEDIATELY!
I took Effexor for 2 years, you need to go off it gradually or you will get very sick indeed!
These pills doctor give out nowadays are wack. Thye put me on some paxil **** and it made my manic. Dude, I woulkdnt get into this stuff. It can be heavy. I mean its not heroin, but you know never what could happen. I saw just follow yuor soul down the river of ideas and let it lead you to the ocean of answers

used to work at a drs office
and they usually have plenty
not sure about the withdrawl symptoms or not for sure
but if your dr put you on that drug you should stay on it

Call you doc and see if s/he can call something into the pharmacy. You should not have been sent home with insufficient supply until your follow up appt. Effexor can be hell to stop, one of the worst of the antidepressants. Hearing voices isn't something I've heard about before, but the rest sounds familiar. Talk to your doc now.
You have not taken the medication long enough for it to have really crossed the blood brain barrier, but if you stop abruptly you will still feel the effects. However, if it is only four days, you should not feel a withdrawal right away because you have taken it for two weeks. In the next few days while you wait to see your doctor, if you start to feel bad, keep in mind it is medicine related, and you will have help in a couple of days.
Try to figure out a way to not have to go without them again. It really is important to keep the drug at its maintenance level for best results. Good luck to you!
Call you doctor, she can either give you another sample pack, or give you a prescription. Abruptly stopping any medication is not good unless it is advised by your physician.
With your symptoms you need to call your doctor right away!
