What should I expect the first day on Lexapro?!

Question: This morning I am starting it and I work as a teacher. I am nervous about starting it (hence my anxiety!) but need to start! Am I going to be sick during the day? Jittery? Nausous? Help, I am so nervous!

Hey!
I felt sleepy on my first few days. I only took hal;f a 10 mg tablet and i still only take half a pill. I started taking it for GAD, generalised anxiety disorder.
My life is perfect now. It took the edge off and i have a life!

actually, I felt calm, and centered. I had no side effects...you may want to go to this site. It can be helpful: http://psychcentral.com/
good luck!

Nothing. It'll take atleast two-weeks for any anti-depressant/anti- anxiety, to get into your system and begin working. A couple docs. have even said a month or two.

i started taking it yesterday. i felt like i was in a fog an hour or two after my first dose. i didn't sleep very well last night and i have a headache. ugh. i hope you don't have the side effects i've had so far.

You may feel a bit drowsy, but you should feel calmer...no jitters, nausea, or sickness.

Relax.

Nothing will happen for a week or two. It has to build up in your system. After a bit, you should feel more at ease and less jittery or prone to an anxiety attack if it's the right med. for you. Be aware though of how you're feeling so that you can change meds. should it not be the right one or has side effects. Meds. often take time to get the proper one for you because every one is different, hence, what works for one person won't for another. Tune in to yourself for the next couple of weeks and be very conscious to how you're feeling. Best of luck :)

Whatever happens, you're probably not going to be incapacitated by it. You might feel a little different, or you might feel slightly more peaceful... but you're not going to drop to the floor or anything.
