I had involuntary convulsive electric shock with suffocation treatment . The brain damage was severe . A doctor friend interceded to stop the rest of scheduled treatments and probably saved the remainder of my life. What do you hope for? There are stories on line of current lobotomies and how they are now like little children. How much brain loss will make you happy? You have to struggle on your own as you learn what made your brain erase the false hopes and build up a resistance to the unbalanced chemicals and the feelings they create in your body.
I would seriously consider any other options before going with ECT. Talk to your doctor about any other possible treatements for ECT. ECT is debatable in its helpfulness, as well as if/how it harms the body. This is a conversation you need to have with your doctor. Here's some info on ECT:
