I take depression meds and they have worked great for a while...?!

Question: but lately all I want to do is sleep and eat. I feel I'm falling back into a deep depression. I have no job and no insurance. So, I can't go see my shrink. What should I do?

Are there any free or sliding-scale clinics near you? Go make an appointment. In order to take depression meds, you must see a doctor regularly or she can't renew the prescription. Who prescribed the meds.

I know that meds like Zoloft can lose their effect after a while on some people.

Go to an Emergency Room where they have to see you. It could be that the effectiveness of the pills are wearing off. In time our bodies keep changing and what was good a few years ago may not be the case now. Go to an emergency room, explain your situation and see if the hospital can offer you some services for free. Good luck!

You are seeking comfort.....Creature Comforts are always welcome, unless...You use them for an escape instead of a comfort. I too took anti-depressive meds..I gained over120 lbs seeking comfort... You would do yourself a huge favor by dealing with what the triggers are that are affecting your personal space with such negativity,,, Deal with that, then eliminate all negative responses around you. Then get on a better diet, exercise, find a hobby...........Good Luck

Visit your nearest public hospital Emergency Room. At the very least, they will hopefully be able to put you in contact with local public health centers that can help.

Get the hot line for your local MHMR. They will setup a appt real quick. They do accessment of income and insurance, plus you will get see doctor. The state will probably buy your meds for you, but you will have to see the doctor every two to three months for followups, otherwise the state will not pay for your meds.

It sounds like your medication is not working anymore. Eventually these types of meds. stop working so you probably need to try some other medication. We are lucky to have so many to fall back on. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor who is prescribing your medication that you are currently taking.
Because you have no job and no insurance, you might be eligible for free care. Your local Social Security Office could help you begin the process to help you get medical insurance for low income people. I hope you feel better soon.
