How do I gain confidence in math?!

Question: I'm behind my peer's math level (always have been), so as you can imagine, my confidence in my math abilities aren't very high. As I start to get into harder math, I'm realizing that I need confidence in my answer to progress quicker in math.

While I am working on my current level and easing up to my peer's level, what can I do to gain more confidence in math?

don't be embarrased about this problem. i have always had problems with math...also suffer from ADHD (the true thing, not just i think i have it because i suck in some academics) the important thing is to ask your teacher how to do the homework and make sure you take notes that your teacher puts up on the board. the internet is full of school activitys and help with every subject. you can type in a search engine the lesson in the chapter and type in after that the subject in math....or type in..say you are in geometry...just type in geometry help. or math help. some people have strengths in math and some others don't but they may have strengths in other subjects like science or social studies....ever since i was in 2nd i hadta have a calculator and even though i'm 17 i still have problems with addition...which is lame right? but i have an A average in the first sem of my junior year in every subject..(i tried to sneak my way out of geo this year...but it didn't work cause now i'm in it!) just take it easy, like i said...look it up online. there's so many places where they show you examples and there are also generators that can map out slopes and what not..here's some sites that have helped me a lot (i'm enrolled in a computer based high school program in my city schools district...so i need lots of help so i look at these sites)

just remember, don't feel let down because you feel as if you're not as smart as others in your grade...cause believe it or not, if you put your mind to it you can ace it. take it from me....i went from a 1.0 GPA my freshman year in high school and now i have a 3.0 and i'm ajunior....you just have to ask teachers, maybe even go to a tutor and definitely look at the websites i gave you...they'll help you a lot!

you really have to practice and practice. math isn't hard. it's just application. as long as the formula's don't change, in theory, the computation has to stay the same.

stay after school, and get extra help :) or see if one of your class mates can tutor you.... good luck!

Do lots of practice questions and you will become better, confidence will follow.

If you are struggling with a hard problem and you can not figure it out then ask your teacher or do some research in book or on the internet. But do try to figure it out yourself first.

just do ur homework and study and practice things over and over. I think teh best way also is to ask for help or further explanation and see a tutor who is good patient and knows wat they r doing bcuz that really does help. Also stop comparing urself to ppl who do better in math,. it dosn't make them better than u and they probabaly do struggle and they just act like they know everything they r doing.

Practise! Download questions from the internet or ask your teacher for advice on what questions you can do.

It's likely the more time on task you spend in studying math, the better you'll do.

At the same time, there can be subtle neurological challenges which cause math learning difficulties too.

Good luck.

Darling, get some private tuition in that subject. you cant be confident till you are better in it. you might not have the money. get a friend or relative to help you . goog luck.

Confidence comes with experience. The more you practise with problem solving, the better you get at it.
