I've had CBT 3 seperate times. The first 2 times I wasn't overly impressed - it did help, but not as much I'd hoped. But the 3rd time was really great. I think it depends on you get as your therapist.

The first therapist I had was a really dull guy who seemed more interested in looking out the window or playing with his tie than concentrating on the session. The lady I had for the 3rd time was great and very encouraging and over my 12 sessions I improved a great deal.

As you're only in your 2nd week your therapist may still be trrying to figure out what to try with you etc. Maybe they want to go slowly - you may want to say in your next session that you feel you're not really going anywhere or gaining anything and they'll probably pick the pace up more.

Good luck.

I thought this was a question about co ck and ball torture.
I really must drag my mind out of the gutter

I had some CBT a couple of years back. For me I didn't find it hugely helpful but then it is different for everyone. I know people who have had really posotive exeriences with CBT. Two sessions in is really early still, these things take some time to work. My advice is to stick with if for at least another couple of weeks. What you hope to gain from it will depend at least in part on why you are receiving this form of help but in general my understanding is that it teaches you how to change your behaviour in order to change how you think and feel about yourself and your problems. I could be wrong however. I have included a link which you might find useful. Hope you find the CBT helpful. Good luck xxx

i had cbt, but i thought it was useless really because even though i have chronic depression i do not have thoughts, i tried explaining this but i think the meds have stopped any thinking, if you dont have negative thoughts you can not change them
