Do Anti-Depressants alter one's personality completely?!

Question: My counselor is going to call my mom and I probably have to go on anti-depressants and other medications to fix a lot of personality disorders that I have that were developed over time. My friends told me stories that anti-depressants have changed their cousin's personality in a bad way. Their ways of thinking, their imaginations that limited their creativity, what music they now listen to etc.

I was just wondering because I feel scared that I don't want to lose the gift of my imagination that give me creative ideas through dark thoughts. Will anti-depressants change any of my personality at all by converting the ways of the mind and changing it completely or is this all a lie? Sorry may seem like a stupid question but I'm very scared and curious.

Dark: that would depends on what type of anti-depressant you'll be taking. this is only your counselor will tell. he/she will suggest what you need. and if any cases of trouble <sometimes sideeffects>, so you let your mom or your counselor know, so he/she will change it.

Dark, I believe in you, you will Go through it...

like people above me mentioned: don't get used to it, take only as necessary.

Dark: also try to listen calm usic, it help. you will go through it, i belive in you! man Report It

  • If the doctor over medicates you, which a lot are inclined to do, yes it will. Try not to stay on them any longer than necessary, and tell the doctor that you want the smallest dose that would be effective.

DON'T DO IT . I am on the same boat. I am highly depressed. But exercise and diet is my medicine and not only is it helping me daily , but also I am getting close to the cure ( believe m e)
