Man, good for you...I'm down to 5 a day, but can't get past that. Tell your friends and family to be ready for those outbursts and ask their forgiveness in advance and then again afterwards. Tell them when it's all over, you'll be back to yourself again, but you need their support and understanding now. Once that's out in the open, that alone will relieve a lot of stress. Keep it up, I envy you your will power.

probably not really, you need to let your friends and family know that you are trying to quit and they need to be understanding and supportive. Of course you're going to be angry and tempermental but that comes with the quitting. Just talk with them and they'll understand.

When I stopped i found that I had to keep myself busy. I think I washed the car 3 times in a weekend. Try to find things to do - alone!

you cope with it by knowing you'll BE AROUND in your close friends and families lives in the future.

of course letting them know that you are quitting and edgy will help too.

punch bag???? or jus have a good ald cry haha! i find exercise helps me release tension!
well done on the old quittin! keep it up :)

get yourself a copy of "the easyway to quit smoking" by allan carr.

it's excellent. it'll also stop the cravings.

First of all- Kudos to you for wanting to quit! Congrats to your decision to quit!
I am where you are- the only difference -I am quitting with the Patch and through a smoke cessation class!
In my State is a Support Line , that I could l call, whenever I feel stressed or I want to smoke or I get grumpy! Hopefully your state has a Support system too, for quitting smoking, just one suggestion you could cope with when it gets "iffy"!
I applaud you for wanting to quit, like I would anyone encourage to quit! The hardest Thing one can ever do! Kudos to anyone that successfully quit!
I just recently heard- that Nicotine is more addictive and harder to quit than Drugs like Heroin!
I second the suggestion - that you find a new Hobby or one you've already enjoyed doing!
In my case it is Painting- different styles like Oil or water paint or chalk! Not only it relaxes me- it helps me to get through the "tough" cravings!
Also I often eat those little Carrots or celery in case the Craving overcomes me! Or I chew sugarless gum !
Or instead of calling the Support Line if that does not apeal to you - I suggest you call someone you really trust and that calms you down and supports you !
Tell your Family that you apologize if you get grumpy or moody, that this is very hard but you are doing it for yourself and them! Trust me, they will understand!
And last if not least- write a Diary...write everything down that moves you or bothers you or makes you feel weak or strong, write all the positive and negative- often that is what helps us through the tough moments!
Again, Congrats...and good luck! Hope my advice helps!

firstly you deserve a massive pat on the back, well done for taking the initial step.
i bought some beads to play with when i had strong urges ,so i guess for you hhmmmm a guy,try an elastic band a strong one what some people do is put the band on there wrist, and when they feel like a *** ping the band, yes it will hurt, its suppose to lol.and if you can go for a walk every night after food.it will not be easy unless you are so determined.there is a couple of good sites to look at.they are www.quitsmoking.com ,www.whyquit.com.i found these good as you can talk to people who are in the same situation as you.try the first one ,send emails and you will reap the rewards with alot of careing people with good advice.
ok now i used the patches and did attempt to quit well shall we say a few time ,and this last attempt, with the nicquitin patches again, but this time have succeeded.i quit 25th august 2006,took my last patch off 26th dec 2006.and now i feel like throwing up if i am in someones house who smokes.i wanted to be anti, but never realized it would be to this extent.
good luck you can do this.
i smoked for 22yrs
