Best way to not let things get to you?!


Question: What's the best way to get yourself out of that deep dark place which causes self mutilation? I do it because it feels like it's the only pain I can control if that makes any sense. Thanks for any help.

NOTE: I am on anti-depressants and this is my 6th kind to date and have been to a therapist on many ocassions. Nothing like that seems to be helping on any level.

Things I do:

-Blast music and dance (I know sounds silly but if you do it long enough you start thinking about random things rather than sadness)

-Call a friend and try to tell them what you are about to do. The friend will help calm you down and will also give you a reason not to.

-Think of how you would feel if everyone in the whole world found out you cut. Your mom, your little sister, neices, cousins, your dad, your neighbor, your boss, your teachers. Mostly think of people younger than you. What if they knew? What if knowing you did such a thing made them think it was ok and they started?

-Aqua. You know... the band. They sing Barbie girl... but their whole cd is the **** and puts me in the best mood ever.

I have been there, and every now and then i circle back to it. It's a scary place, but you have to find your happy place. It sounds cliche, but thats what my therapist told me and it works. Mine is writing. If i write my emotions down on paper and make songs and poems, it keeps me from the self mutilation.

Also i found people to hang with that don't bring me down. We bullsh*t and all the good stuff, but they don't know my past so it isnt an issue.

I was on Zoloft but i stopped taking them because they seemed to be making me worse.

I just try to remember that i can't control what other people do, only what i do. If dating get's you down, then stop dating till you get a crip on things!

JUST TRY YOUR BEST N0T TO W0RRY ABOUT THEM! LET THINGS FL0W && DON'T LET THEM GET TO YOU BECAUSE IN THE END EVERYTHiNG WiLL BE ALRiGHT

There is a simple way to deal with your problems and come out successfully.

Do breathing exercise (one type of Pranayama) as follows twice a day.

How to do?

Sit on flat floor. sit erect, your clothes should be loose.

keep your both hands around on the hip as though you are measuring your hip around the navel point.
This way you will feel like putting a small pressure on your stomach.
But do not put any pressure

Keep a smile on your face through out (this is very important)

Strart breathing ----Start inhaling counting 1,2,3,&4

Stop. Hold breath count ing1,2,3,&4 .

Release the air--exhale-this time counting 12345&6
( that is inhale : exhale is in the ratio of 1;1.5).Got it?

Now hold breath again briefly and count - but this time only upto count 1&,2 -two only).

Start inhaling again counting 1.2,3,&4

Repeat this cycle ,

This do initially for 10 times, slowly increase as you get used to it, increase this to 50 instalments. Do this both in the morning and evening.

Keep smiling throught the exersise;dont forget this ever!!!

With this you are sure to find , not only great changes in your body but also in mind.This is one type of" Yoga"
Important:
whatever medicines you are already taking continue to do so.You yourself will know when to slowly get out of medication in the course of your exercise.
